The movie was good, not great, but good.

More unique than the average MCU movie, seeing Spidey be a total fuck-up was great; very nice contrast to the average capeshit. A lot of jokes were boring Hollywood shit but there were some good ones too. Michael Keaton was fantastic as the Vulture, and provided the perfect foil to young and optimistic Spider-Man. Best MCU villain yet.

The worst parts of the movie were when it still felt too much like other superhero movies, and Spidey's costume was obviously designed as to be easily CGI'ed which was fucking lazy. And fuck the new MJ and her awful humor, terrible.

I think it's three separate universes. The MCU has Peter, there's an animated movie next year with Miles, which is probably a separate universe, and a third universe with Venom, Black Cat, Silver Sable, etc starting later in the year.

Small nod, maybe to please the PC crowd, there was a small shitstorm when this new reboot was announced to be about Peter again instead of Miles or a black Peter and Glover was the guy people wanted to take on the role since he auditioned for the TASM movies (i think) and was very outspoken about it since he even referenced it in one of his works

Of course this is just speculation, just saying, Holland was picked also because of his age ensuring a potentially long term relationship with these movies so it doesn't really feel like they're setting him up just to be killed around the 3rd-4th movie only to be replaced by a legacy character, which btw hasn't been tried before. Unless they want to create a situation where they coexist, in which case what do i know

It's a very modern reimagining of the classic Peter Parker high school stories. The characters work very well for the story they're trying to tell. MJ was an interesting take and I'd like to see how they develop and use her for the next one.

About 10 minutes at most.

The characters are really name only and they have the same basic role that they have had since the 60's. Flash Thompson is still a bully. Peter still thinks Liz is hot. Ned Leeds is now Ganke from new USM, etc. MJ was just super weird in the movie which I guess is the direction they're taking, and that's fine because Peter and Ned are weird too. She's also a sophomore in hs so they could potentially mature the characters in later films

Was pretty good. Keaton played a Vulture with that scene in the car ride, and I liked most of the humor. Only complaint is that Peter went for the black girl, which worked as well for him as it did for me.

Showed the Moral Grayness of Super-Heroing and portrayed Stark as an ass

Pretty sure this was actually an allegory for Trump/Trump Voters (Blue Collars getting screwed/ignored by the government/elites will cause problems the longer they're ignored)

Keaton's character was a fantastic villain who actually didn't do anything wrong (Only crime is killing 1 guy by accident, spider-Man Caused the Ferry incident) and was empathetic

Marvel quippy reddit humor was largely absent, and the humor that was there was fitting

Conversely, also had actual moments of emotion and real failure (That scene where he literally cries after the ceiling collapse)

Only movie I can think of that portrays High-Schoolers as they really are, and uses actually young actors

Keaton twist was unexpected

Being an AcDec champion myself in high school, the AcDec plot points made me crack up

Decent flick. Better than Wonder Woman, one of the best Super Hero pictures. Definitely the best marvel joint, I was thoroughly surprised leaving the theater. 7.5/10
