In the last jedi, luke will say to rey 'You are my father'. Kylo Ren will become good in episode 9 and will be like Bucky, 'haunted' by the bad deeds he has done.

Disney and lucas film have learned from past movies that many boys make bad decisions and admire the villains in star war movies more than the good guys so they will come in with the plan to have the villain become good from when they introduce him rather than having him become good later on like Lucas did because he didn't like so many people admiring a villain. A greater proportion of girls admire the heroes of kids movies than boys so it's not a bad idea to have the person who is at least the hero of the early movies in the series to be female. Look at how they have made Iron Man, Captain America, and Jack Sparrow in the movies over time.

I think it's worth considering that a major motivating factor for Disney wanting Star Wars to get more female fans/females to like it more is might be that they are planning on building a Star Wars section to Disneyland and a Marvel section for California Adventure. California Adventure generally appeals more to post like ~5 year old boys and to men somewhat. Disneyland appeals more to boys and girls like under ~5, girls over 5, and to adult women somewhat.

So, because Disney doesn't want to replace the long standing princess stuff in Disneyland, that park is going to be somewhat more appealing to girls, but they wanted girls there to get their parents to buy Star Wars merchandise and to want to go on the rides.

Consider also that Disney bought the movie rights to Delilah Dirk. She is supposed to be like a female Indiana Jones, but in an earlier time period. Disney will probably have her be in the same universe as Jones somehow, maybe even as his ancestor or have same ancient artifact or something appear in two of their movies. They might make the Indiana Jones ride in Disneyland a Delilah Dirk ride or have both of them appear on a ride or two rides at Adventureland.

in today's world that translates to men taking on all of the financial responsibility during divorce, and all of the societal burdens for the failed marriage. It is always his fault, he is always to blame. Even in the case of partnerless 30 somethings a woman is seen with pity and kindness where a man is scorned and shunned for being lazy or unattractive.
