I've been constipated all weekend long and finally took massive shit this morning. During the shit I felt like my asshole was on fire and once it was done I was extremely happy it was finally over and hoped to never have to suffer through it again. What's more, it's effects made people stray away from using the bathroom for the next few hours as well because it was so fucking bad.

Because Jeff just isn't believable as a degenerate masturbating manchild who insults people on the phone and then gets his ass kicked.
Also didn't help that they got that stiff NCIS guy to be the boss.
>>84644615

>>84645595
Same thing with US Red Dwarf
>>84644276
I don't care that she's from Iran
>>84644483
They copied it without understanding why the original was funny. The main difference is the scene where they attempt to complaing about their working situation.
They both more or less play out the same way, with the group walking in on a conversation about how much he dislikes disunity and fires an entire security team over the phone because they aren't getting along. In the US version, after the group walk out, the boss calls the person back on the phone and explains that he just said that to mess with the IT group. In the UK version, it is played straight. Americans don't understand surrealist humour.

Does IT Crowd use canned laughter or actual studio audience laughter? Either way it's entirely over the top and kills the attempts at comedy >for me
>>84646792
its studio. I think for some retakes they used laughter from a previous take
why is jen so fuckable?
I've never really gotten this show. Everyone recommends it to me as a hilarious piece of the comedy canon, but then it's just like an above average sitcom? I guess? It's kind of funny here and there, but the laughter punctuation is pretty obnoxious, but probably more a product of its time more than anything. And the jokes weren't even clever or cleverly set up, they seemed to rely on the characters having silly voices.
I think I've been shown that "This is all of the Internet" clip like 4 times as an example of how the show is hilarious, but that clip always fucking grates one me. It's so obnoxiously unfunny.
>>84646983
much of it is indeed based on delivery
>>84644041
>when he starts going all Close Encounters
Underrated episode. That and the one where one of Roy's old acquaintances thinks he's a window cleaner.
>>84646983
It was basically the best sitcom in an era when there wasn't very much good comedy on the air
The same goes for Gavin and Stacy
They are not bad shows but they are held up as the best due to the late noughties being a wasteland television wise due to the blight of reality TV
>>84646863

I fucked hated The IT Crowd pretty much since it started but have only recently started to warm to it for some reason.
>>84644367
this. that little jump.
>>84646983
It's a feature of Graham Linehan's style. I saw an interview with him about it. I think the interview was focused on Father Ted but it carries onto the rest of his work. The tensions, ruses and most often pure awkwardness are built continuously over the course of an episode or series. Taken out of context a scene can seem utterly humourless. In the context of the broader episode (and the minds of the people spamming you with isolated clips) it is hilarious.
The ability to build a scene or a set of characters so that a single raised eyebrow is a punchline is the real mark of skill and quality.
