It didn't make sense he got that far in the first place anyway, the plot had loads of holes, like L announcing he narrowed down Kira's position right at the start, why the fuck would you do that? Literally block that section of the city and run checks on people that fit your profiling, you're bound to get him, or keep narrowing down.

Kira would have never gone as far as he did in a real situation.

So when it comes to genius characters, or lawful characters, the idea is to cast a minority that has low IQ or is overepresented in crime stats, so if I want to show that blacks can be smart too, or on the side of the law in my political agenda I will cast them in those roles, while people that are in real life fill those roles will fill the devious criminal role instead, this is to give the message that "see X ethnicity? You too can be part of our society and fill roles or achieve feats that you don't currently dooin enough numbers"

This is all based on a big social experiment that has so far failed miserably, but has no real alternatives to it, the state wants productive members of society, not drains and criminals, but they can't get rid of said members because the backlash from all sorts of groups would be enormous, nor would it be possible anymore ever since whites have become 60% and asians are too few.

The liberal left has been decrying the use of whitewashing for a while now, especially blacks whenever Egypt is employed. Will they have the same standards and cry blackwashing? Is it an actual ideological desire to remain true to the source material, or is it merely frustration over white representation and success? It'll be interesting seeing how Hollywood critiics and those just critical receive this.
