While charisma is of course a part of leadership, the other parts are people management and decision making. If you can't make intelligent decisions, the best you can ever hope for is a 6.7/10 in my book.

I think you're probably right about that. The USA, being the prime example, has spent the last fifteen or twenty years quietly amending its laws to put more and more power into the hands of the POTUS, and I think at least part of that change is driven by frustration at the glacial pace at which change is made under a democratic system. The senators and the congressmen are tired of being stymied by endless layers of bureaucracy, litigation and lobbying, so they try and divert decision-making towards the executive office in the hopes that someone competent will take the reigns.

The eternal problem that arises with autocracy is that the kinds of people that seek autocratic power are exactly the kinds of people that you never want to allow to wield it. Hence, Trump.

I think though that dynastic lines have been in control of the money for many years now, and many people are resentful of this. I don't think anyone can deny the show was almost perfect until the Red Wedding. As soon as the realistic war narrative was dropped then it turned to shit. They should have dropped all the stupid walker and fantasy shit and just focussed on the north vs midlands.
