Season 1 for sure.

Less reliance on CGI, focused on good acting, stayed relatively close to the books, very little supernatural/generic high fantasy shit.

All downhill from there.

Season 1 best. 2 and 3 were nice, 4 was meh and it has been a steep downhill ever since.

season 1 has all the best actors, all the weaker actors are held up by the good actors that surround them. the worst part of the first season are jon and dany. kit was really weak as jon in the first season. people gave emilia shit too but i honestly thought she was fine at playing dany at that point in her story.
