It's OK. As a sequel to trainspotting it leaves a bit to be desired, but it's not a bad movie over all. It hits the same beats and is entertaining for the most part. I particularly really enjoyed the bit about the catholic song, and the rehash of the "choose life" speech, and how it has been perfectly updated for the times, but more specifically how Ewan McGregor's performance hits the note in that scene.

Some might be put off by its non-clear-cut narrative, but then again the first one was just like it; lots of little things happening and then there's that one big plot. Overall it's just more of the same, and doesn't really diverge too drastically from the formula. It was nice seeing what these guys were up to after all these years, though, just wish it had much more of an impact.

genuinely the most emotionally satisfying moment in any film this year, save for maybe the final shot in Logan. The movie did rely heavily on nostalgia, but the film itself is about nostalgia and growing up so it's not a shameless cash in like people in this thread are making out to be. The callbacks have a thematic purpose, and they work really fucking well.
