>/who/ presents:
DOCTOR WHO: SHIT TRIPS Vol. 2
- The Anthology -

>Are you a true fan of Doctor Who?
>Have you ever written down a sequence of words?

If the answer is yes or no, then you are ready to contribute a literary masterpiece to the second /who/ collection of original Doctor Who-based short fiction.

/who/ did it once. Now, we're gonna do it again! Yet another entry in an age-old tradition of p̶a̶c̶k̶a̶g̶i̶n̶g̶ ̶f̶a̶n̶f̶i̶c̶s̶ ̶t̶o̶g̶e̶t̶h̶e̶r̶ ̶t̶o̶ ̶g̶i̶v̶e̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶m̶ ̶a̶n̶ ̶a̶i̶r̶ ̶o̶f̶ ̶l̶e̶g̶i̶t̶i̶m̶a̶c̶y̶ / celebrating the magic of Who and the talent of a community.

There are no limits (except the story must be at least 1 word long, and preferably not in excess of 10,000, it's short fiction you fuck).

>- Can involve any Doctor(s), companion(s), side characters, spinoff characters and beyond, as your heart desires
>- Can be in any style, whether it's "legitimate writing", "pisstake", or "shitpost".
>- Can be about absolutely anything
>- The main focus is on good fun in the vein of the wiki, although serious entries are allowed. (If you're going to write smut, maybe approach it with a degree of levity)

Stuck for ideas? Try starting with your favourite TARDIS team (or for timeliness, 12/Bill “I'm a lesbian” Potts) and one of these authentic titles:
http://www.saberpunk.net/DoctorWho/DoctorWhoSerialGenerator.php
https://glyphobet.net/drwho
And free scenario prompts:
http://games.usvsth3m.com/drwho/

We are going to be starting an index on the wiki for the collection. Anyone can contribute, no signups/pitches required. If you have ideas, feel free to broadcast them.
The rest is self-explanatory. Format for uploading your work is up to you, as long as it can be conveniently copied across (and ideally don't spam long texts in /who/ directly). (Pastebin works well.)

BONUS: Anyone who wants to do cover art or "illustrations" is encouraged.

I realised that you could have a 30-something show up as the First Doctor in a crossover since Hartnell's Doctor was like 800 when he began.
>>
>>84553550
he was 200
and it seems to be happening in the last episode of Tenth Planet

Or in his mind.

Have they killed any companions? It seems like they all get a happy ending.
>>
Series 10 is literally the love story between two spacefaring Lesbian oil puddles.
>>
>>84553588
Even so, you could just get an actor who looks like a young Hartnell and have him be the Doctor during his first century.

So what are rumours regarding Chinballs?
I gather there two contradictory things, both baseless, right?

First one: story arc going through the whole series, possible bigger ansamble cast.
Second one: no story arc, longer stories ala classic, more stand-alone focus.

Misc: some gallifrey and/or vampire stuff, either 8x1 hourly episodes or 10 fifty-something ones, new asian companion, RTD-era soap return.

I work for the BBC as an assistant. Series 11 is ready to start production. Props are almost finished, the new set team is ready and waiting. We are expecting to film around late August.

>Kris Marshall is 13, he is portraying an Irish Doctor. Not a heavy accent though soft and easy to understand from what I hear.

>Next companion is Japanese-British her name is Kaiyo.

>There is a Japanese episode about Yokai, it isn't set in Japan but a Japanese colony world The Doctor brings Kaiyo to a hotel similar to the animated movie spirited away it is run by aliens who resemble Yokai. The 13th Doctor. Weird events start happening in the night however.

There is another two part episode where the Doctor is under the influence of the Chameleon arch. It is purely historical and is set during the 1798 rebellion. The Doctor believes he is a member of the United Irishman and is a radical rebel. The Doctor believes Kaiyo to be a British spy and treats her horribly for most of the episode according to the script. Very emotional episode and is one of Chibnalls ''bold ideas'' previously no writer has gone near Irish-British relationships.

Another episode is set in New Orleans during the 1930's. It involves a creepy religious cult who have a phone they call the ''god phone'' it's members talk to an entity they believe to be god and they end up receiving it's ''blessing'' which leaves them with a permanent creepy smile on their face.

There is a Corsair episode written by Neil Gaiman. He managed to spare some time to write the episode even though he is busy with American gods. The Corsair survived house. He is ''David Bowie mixed with Boy George mixed with Captain Jack sparrow essentially''

>Episodes around an hour in lenght now.

>Last four episodes will true to rumours be about the Great Vampires. But the other Eight are varied and written by mainly new guest writers.

Further details

Kaiyo is straight, she doesn't fall head of heals for the Doctor. The BBC do not want to offend the Japanese so they are not attaching are particular cause or agenda to her character. Shes a nerdy character interested in mythology and history. But also strong without having to say it.

Also to the other guy. She has an English accent that is why Rebel Doctor thinks she is a spy. There were Asians in Britain during the late 1700's.
>>
>>84555390

I later went back and watched The War Machines, but I skipped the second doctor almost completely, I watched Tomb of the Cybermen, The Krotons (For some fucking reason) The Mind robber (Which is fucking GOAT) and The War Games (Also GOAT), and then I didn't skip anything after War Games. I was just sick of reconstructions. But since then I have watched The Invasion, Moonbase (I think that is what its called the one with cybermen on the moon) and Power of The Daleks.

I don't think it'll be a chick; maybe we need some Chibnal MysteryMilf kino to restore the store...I dunno. BUT the Doctor travels through the PAST...where chicks were regularly ignored and often abused, so any sex appeal casting a young woman be drowned out in overtones of "SEE WOMXYN ARE TREATED TERRIBLY BUT ARE FAR BETTER" Just as well, I don't think they'l cast someone old like 12, it won't attract new fans.

Plus if they do and lean into the women-whispering-in-men's-ears tropes where the Doctor has to verbally navigate her way to respect/authority people would complain they aren't giving the woman as much action. If they give her more action they'll complain they're copying River, if the Doctor uses womanly wiles to seduce her way to authority ppl would lose their shit. And if they want to maintain the historically "not white-washed" tone they went for this season - no one in the past would listen to her. They would take one look at the psychic paper and still ignore her or try to get her away from the fight.

Again, maybe its what the show needs, all i know is that right now it needs Not-Moffat.

New meme hot off the press.
>>
>>84553642
Dodo (a Second Doctor companion) was killed off in one of the spin-off novels (she was highly unpopular and just walked off/abandoned on the show).

Jamie was killed off by Grant Morrison in the comics, a move that was one of the catalysts for BBC declaring the books and comics non-canon to the TV show. Same with Ace, who was killed in the late 90s comics. Meanwhile, Liz Shaw was killed off in the Virgin novel series, when the city she was in got nuked by one of the early Virgin novel series bad guys.

Peri was supposed to die in Trial of the Time Lord and her her final scene was explicitly filmed as being a death scene. But BBC got cold feet and when behind the scenes shit happened to force them to rewrite the final two part serial of the Trial season, one of the edicts given to the writers (besides giving the Trial storyline a happy ending) was to reveal that Peri didn't die. They ended up recycling footage of the actress and Brian Blessed's character to set up the notion that he saved her from being killed and fell in love.

No. Clara was shit in Series 7 because they gave her fuck-all of a character and focused on the "mysterious girl" bullshit, but in Series 8 and 9 they learned their lesson and made her into a pretty regular companion. Plus Jenna's fit as fuck.

>Also, why do I remember the ninth season as kind of boring?
A lot of people here seem to really love series 9, but I'm in the same boat as you. I think it's partially to do with the way they made too many two parters, which just meant there was less variety of stories. It also felt less adventure driven and more just "here's a problem, watch the characters deal with it" which was pretty boring for Doctor Who.

How many years was did the Doctor spend as his 12th incarnation? We can assume he was with CLALA for 2 years before she "died" then he solo traveled for who knows how long before spending 24 years with river. Then there's another gap before the Doctor settles at the university with missy in the vault for 50+ years.
So Capaldi's Doctor is at least 76+ years old. Is there anything I'm missing?
>>
>>84558223
> So it's true that every doctor after 4 has been wasted then

i never claimed that

though it's somewhat accurate

doesn't detract from the fact that Moffet was more egregious in his wastage, Smith and Capaldi being capable of far much more than they were given to work with

>>84558370
> But you didn't say that. You said "Capaldi was wasted on this show"

11's was really nice and warm and comforting, it seemed like a friendly place to go outside of scary adventures. But Calpaldi's is just god-tier in seeming like a powerful time machine that can go anywhere and do anything and fits his personality. I love the furniture too.

8th movie version. I just think it looks ebin and suiits the Doctor.
>>
The entire segment where the Master is going down the lift laughing, Missy dies, followed by the Doctor's last stand against the Cybermen, is one of the best moments in the history of the show. Up there with breaking the wall.

The original is still up there for me. The skylight, the chairs, and the computer banks give it a cool but comfy look.

I like Capaldi's but I do still prefer Smith's. The way his was just Smith's second Tardis but with a different color time rotor didn't really sit well with me, and I miss the 'living' atmosphere that looked like a machine that had been round for years with lots of bits constantly breaking and being replaced with odd bits by the Doctor hence the messiness of it all. Whoever had the idea to make the top of it have all the Galifreyan symbols and have them spin around when it takes off is a genius though, that's fucking cool.

Agreed, I get comfy as fuck when it's introduced in The Eleventh Hour. And practically anytime the gang is just hanging out in it. 11 was truly a comfy doctor in the downtime when he wasn't doing big Moffat shit.

Power of Three was probably the comfiest 11 ep and it was written by Chibbs. If nothing else, I'm sure Chibnall era will be hella cozy

It's just too fucking bad neither of them did diddly squat in this episode, and the next Master will undo all of Missy's development and go back to being evil.

No it isn't. The Lodger and Closing Time are.
Dinosaurs on a Spaceship was comfier than Power of Three anyway.

Why did 12 not want to regenerate? Did he grow vain like 10? Or did he just want to die? Seemed a bit wierd.
>>
>>84561387
His whole arc in S8/9 had been "who am i? Am I a good man?" Now he finally knows who be is, and can be at peace (he intended to die taking down the Cybermen and made his final peace when he lamented at their being no stars) and just when he's at peace with who he is, he's forced to become someone else.

Had just the right mix of space age and antique, while still remaining alien and mysterious.

So you think they're already figuring out how to bring back the master or are they just gonna not give a shit and bring him back with no explanation?

>I'd love to know which episode in S2 got in that was so good that Fry's script was thrown aside

If you're still around the answer is Neil Gaiman's one.

Fry was tasked to write this episode but he had a diva strop a few weeks before the script was due and just refused to do anything because of supposed writers block. This was after he had been already given an extension of a whole year. He was never even asked about season 2 the request came a few series after that. Naturally after a year longer than most writers and then claiming he couldn't do it a few weeks before production could start he was told his work would no longer be required. Gaiman stepped in at the last minute, thrilled at the prospect of writing for Doctor Who and delivered a good episode in record time.

Fry only started saying all this "oh doctor who is beneath me" crap after he was told his services would no longer be required.

Fry can write good stuff, but he can't do it to order and he is difficult to work with apparently. He is also not as clever as some people like to think as it is a group of researchers, scriptwriters and an auto queue that do all the work on Qi, he just turns up and reads what they give him.

If Missy could conjure up a flux capacitor via Bill and Ted method out of thin air, I'm sure she can just make a mental note to herself to come back and save her past self in the future and voila future Master to the rescue.

question: in the witch's familiar when missy says "i've just had an idea" at the end of the episode when she's surrounded by daleks, what did she mean? where did that plot thread go?
>>
Okay, fuck Series 9 Soundtrack. We definitely need Series 10. WEAT had a great score.
>>
>>84561846
What? Neil Gaiman didn't write a S2 episode
>>
>>84562100

>>84561840

Missy said she couldn't remember if Simm Master regenerates into her of if there are a few between them, so to bring back the master all they have to do is regenerate Simm into someone else, they can do this infinite times if they want as the master has always found ways around the set numbers of regens.

Another way is to introduce incarnations of the master from before Delgardo. Although Delgardo was the first Master shown in the series he was not the first incarnation of the master and there are plenty of incarnations we haven't seen before he ran through his first set of regens.

Or they could just say that someone or other finds his ring and resurrects him or missy turns into a snake and possesses people.

she sucked off all the daleks

I know he didn't. If you read the post, or we're around at the time you'd know that fry wasn't formally asked to do a season 2 episode, but was asked a bit later. Then he bullshited around a bit asking for an extension to his deadline, which he was given for another season. Eventually after a year or 2 not delivering Fry's episode was given to Neil Gaiman instead (it's the one that first establishes timeless can change gender and when they put the Tardis into Suranne Jones).
>>
>>84562065
It's a reference, both to The Master constantly being seemingly Dead Forever then coming back a month later in Classic Who, and to the movie The Italian Job

It's just a meta joke that will never be explained

Emergency temporal shift probably

Curious on the source for the Neil Gaiman bit. I'd always heard that Fry's script was dropped after series 3.
>>
>>84562630

It was an interview before the episode aired, I think it might have been for Doctor Who Magazine (could have been radio times or something like that though), definitely print rather than online but it might have been uploaded somewhere.
