Recently watched Transformers 3 with some friends and I think one of the only things Bay does right is his use of visual noise to sort of mask his CGI. Transformers 3 has some really really bad cgi, worst offender being Sam hanging off of Starscream's eye and when it does the close cut, but there's a ton of really really good masking. Of course if Bay knew how to work a camera at fucking all, he wouldn't need to mask so much, but as it stands it's a pretty smart solution to a nasty problem. Never watched Transformers 4 but I've actually got it downloaded right now because I heard that he changes up how his camera's work and I want to see if it really is smart clutter, or a happenstance to his shitty shitty angles.
