I liked it. It's not the torture porn a lot of people made it out to be. It's not even preachy as in trying to convert you to Christianity - if anything, it's about man's cruelty against man. Lots of beautiful cinematography. Check it out, man.

It's fine. Good depiction of Jerusalem. I liked that it wasn't in English. But story-wise, it's only really about the last day of Jesus' life, with some minor flashbacks to other moments. You need to know the story already to appreciate it, which is fine if you're a pious person, but doesn't work as well if you're just someone watching the movie.

If you want a better gospel adaptation watch The Gospel According to St. Matthew. If you want a better Jesus story, watch Last Temptation of Christ.

Its a great film which only is bombastic in terms of violence. What is interesting about the violence is how people bring their prejudices into the film. Critics are willing to praise a movie about the torture of prisoners or slaves but turn their nose up at this.

It doesnt try to reach above itself or overexplain things. The Last Tempatation was hampered by the vision of its director. In comparison, Passion is measured and direct.

Your question was rhetorical but answering for others. Gibson is refering to the historical belief that (((they))) are responsible for the death of Jesus. On the hands of our children acknowledges that the guilt is for all Jews then alive and those yet to be born including all Jews alive today without distinction.
