How THE fuck did they make 4 of these movies?
They were cheap to make and fit perfectly in the horror section of the era's video stores. They could make money just by taking up space at Blockbuster. Same with the Leprechaun movies.

This. Also movies like Ghoulies, "National Lampoons", etc. could make good money going straight to VHS.
Nowadays going straight to DVD is deemed a failure and will end your career. Back then B-movies were a huge market.
fucking nice ass titties

That character is a shape shifting alien that sees a picture of a playboy model in a magazine. It even shape shifts the staple in the middle of the page and it pulls it off it's belly before picking up a big ass fucking gun and goes off to murder some shit.

3&4 were cheap back to back direct to video things that are among the most awful shit I ever had the displeasure to watch, even with Dishotaprio. People whining all over the board about bad movies need to watch those to have a good idea of what worthless garbage actually is.
First is a generic and forgettable monster movie that did a few things right, 2 is literally the tits, they went for trashy comedy and absolutely succeeded at it, plus Charlie's development, would recommend.

This scene may have given me a breast expansion fetish.

going straight to video was always deemed a career ending failure. Its just you could subsist on that level of failure for a fair bit.

>working
>career ending
really makes me think
You know, only about 20-40 directors will make it "big" in your lifetime. Just because you dont direct blockbusters doesnt mean you cant have a career in the field

Actually it was the 80s before BlockBuster dominated the market. For most the 1980s it was mom and pop. Mom and pop often had either porn section on the back or catered with softcore. Horror movies were extremely profitable. Cheap to produced. High demand. No real regulation as long as it wasn't directly graphic sex.
Hence the boom the horror movies of the 1980s.
By the 1990s it deid because of BlockBuster caved to the jesus freaks of the midwest.

I wore out the tape at that scene. No amount of tracking could correct it.
