This thread depresses the fuck out of me. Where did the time go? I still remember 1995 like it was yesterday.

Despite all the shit that we had in that decade, I'd gladly take it over today. Yes, we have high-speed Internet, smartphones, and other nifty tech, but the 90's was a great time to live as a kid. At least in my opinion.

My SJW friends bitch about the 90's being a terrible time for gays, minorities (I'm Guyanese-American while they're all white), and other shit. I agree that civil liberties for non-WASPs and anyone who was LGBT, Muslim, etc. wasn't up to par with today's standards, but I get the feeling that people are a fuckton more angrier today. Back in the 90's, media tried to instill upon the idea that despite our differences and problems, we can find a solution if we took the time and effort together. Now, racial lines are being drawn and if you so much have a thought that diverges from someone else's, you're automatically "The Enemy".

Both the 80's and 90's were god-tier in terms of how pop culture ingrained itself via movies, TV, music, comics, etc. And how commercialism provided kids and 20somethings in those decades with unheard of luxury and entertainment.

Plus the 80's was the first generation that didn't have to worry about the threat of nuclear annihilation. The Soviets were on the decline and the Chinese were an economic backwater. Times were good and people indulged.

To be fair Islam shouldn't even exist, its just another stupid Abrahamic flavor, like may as well be Mormon. 90s were decent for gays, you had a few gay TV shows and pride was a thing, gay music was good, you had Madonna and some SICK gay anthems to be fair like Groove is in the Heart or Everybody Dance Now or Work. It was cool because it was only LG&B.

90s sucked as a transsexual people didn't really take you seriously like 'just eat some raw meat, shit' but the Drag scene was pretty fun and actually felt like it improved culture overall somehow.

What makes this generation suck is all the push push push of LGBT acceptance. In the 90s people got over AIDS a lot and LG&B was fairly accepted and represented. Mass media didn't always try to shove it in your face like today.

I always thought races were pretty chill in the 90s but then there was Rodney King I guess. Blacks and Asians all had representation in films with Whites getting the lions share of roles admittedly but Blacks could get famous like Eddie Murphy or Chris Rock.

I just think we felt satisfied with the media we consumed back then, it never bothered us not having social media. I think social media replaced books for people is the problem. This is why everyone feels about 5IQ points lower.

Social Media also is what makes general society so edgy and rude and keeps people from feeling joy in their lives.

If we traded reading for social media it would be a better world.
