I would like to see redesigns of most Trek aliens to make them look more alien honestly.

>>84446135
I've seen both. the Klingons didn't have any dialogue in either version, aside from yelling like in their death rites.
but ancient klingons that have been in hibernation is pretty much the only thing that makes sense for their new look. like this is the Klingon version of the Botany Bay or something.
>>84446395
What if they are Klingons who got H'urqed?
>>84445543
Looks gay
>>84446576
also acceptable. (and could be the explanation for why they are in hibernation/stasis/whatever in the first place)
and maybe the cathedral-looking ships are actually H'urq ships, which is why they don't look like Klingon ships.
>>84446692
what the fuck is this autistic gothic cathedral contorted into the shape of a space ship shit?
The main problem with Discovery so far is that it looks like generic sci-fi, rather than Star Trek.
I have no problem with re-imagining Trek for the modern era (fuck me TOS fanboys and their whining about why does the ship have touch screens and LCD screens). But Trek has always had very sleek design. Even though it looks like shit, I understand why JJ went with "Apple Store" with Nu Trek, because Apple = Sleek, futuristic design among normies.
But Discovery doesn't look Sleek or Treky, from images we've seen, it looks like a mash up between like, Battlestar Galactica and Doctor Who.
This image does not say "Federation Ship" to me, it says "Tardis".
Might look better in motion, Enterprise also doesn't really align that much to Trek aesthetics as well. But this is supposed to be the same era as Cage, so it's strange they just didn't update the Cage aesthetic.

http://ew.com/tv/2017/06/26/star-trek-discovery-storyline/
there's an autoplay video though
>Showrunners Aaron Harberts and Gretchen J. Berg donāt want to give away too much of the plot. The CBS All Access drama is heavily serialized with plenty of twists and turns ā particularly in the first few episodes ā which makes the storyline difficult to discuss.
>But hereās some new intel the duo are ready to reveal about the series, which stars Sonequa Martin-Green as a Starfleet First Officer who was the first human to attend the Vulcan Science Academy.
>āBurnham [has] spent a lot of time on Vulcan, but sheās human,ā Harberts says. āSarek [Spockās father, played by James Frain] plays an important role in her life, which has been completely planned until she makes a very difficult choice that sends her life on a very different path. When we meet her, sheās the First Officer on the Starship Shenzhou [captained by Philippa Georgiou, played by Michelle Yeoh]. And Burnhamās choice that weāre alluding to is most difficult choice you can make ā it affects her, affects Starfleet, affects the Federation, it affects the entire universe. That choice leads her to a different ship, the Discovery [helmed by Captain Lorca, played by Jason Isaacs] and there we begin what Gretchen and I call our āsecond pilot.'ā
>second pilot
so the episode that everyone gets to see for free on normal TV isn't the "real" pilot. you have to buy in to CBS All Access.

I mean I've heard speculation that the discovery is supposed to be some sort of specialized vessel. When the initial teaser came out I even saw some people saying that it looked like a cross between a federation and a Klingon ship so maybe the ship isn't necessarily going to be a federation ship in the show
>>84453251
listen m8, this isn't about TOS only their is about hours of stuff with only TNG and DS9 combined that characterized Klingons. And if you don't like the klingons as they are established in the "lore" you just don't call it star trek and you make a knew fucking show.
That's what bother me the most about discovery, this is no star trek as I know it.
But it just call itself star trek in the hope that it will drags a few retards like me and it look like JJtrek because that's how normies know star trek to be. The klingons in this fucking show are no klingon, and I don't know what they are. they just took the klingons and decided that if we exagerated their features it will be cool, but you know what would have been cool? a knew scifi show, or a knew species. What is not cool is this lazy attempt to just mess with the established klings and hope for the best.
>>84453370

>>84445682

>klingons are now ancient astronaut tier aliens with Egyptian motif
Because when I fantasize about a new trek show, I often wonder in what ways could it be made to resemble stargate.
>>84453248
Kurn was Worf's brother who had to be mind-wiped. he (Tony Todd) and Martok (J.G. Hertzler) love doing Trek stuff. Tony Todd was in Axanar and Hertzler shows up to conventions in costume.
I guess nuSpartacus enjoys VA work, because he's played Kahless (!), the current Klingon chancellor, and a Romulan temporal agent.
Normally I wouldn't give a shit about them changing the looks from one series to another, I don't give a shit that they changed Klingons from TOS to the movies and then to TNG.
But Gene Roddenberry has been dead for 25 years and this show has been made to push a streaming service onto normies, so this change in look is almost certainly indicative of a change in tone and writing. STD is almost certainly going to play out like a season of Game of Thrones crossed with SG-1 and BSG. It'll pay some lip service to "don't be racist" or whatever, but apart from that it'll have nothing that made other Trek good. It will be characters fighting and fucking, there will be betrayal and people will be killed off to create "drama". There will be no story of ethics and morals in a futuristic society, nothing to do with interesting sci-fi concepts like time travel and God-like beings, and no exploration of the human condition. Don't expect well written episodes like "Balance of Power", "Measure of a Man" or "Inner Light", you're going to get crap, it'll sell like shit and Star Trek will stay dead and buried until they try it again in 15 years.
>>84453662

Rewatching Voyager, I realize 37s isn't all that horrible.
Sure it's incredibly stupid but compared to the rest of the extremely boring and bland second season it's at least mildly entertaining.
>>84453862
Not when the director has no say in who the cinematographer is, what the set design is, what the music is, who the characters are played by, who the editor is, what cameras they will use, what the costumes are etc. All of the big decisions have already been made, Riker's influence is minimal and there's only so much he can do. A shit director or a great director the amount of influence they have on the quality is pretty much nothing, the script is more important. Remember that Riker directed Sub Rosa, one of the worst Trek episodes. He couldn't save that abortion.

Voyager, compared to all the other shows, actually has the least painful start. You can just feel the well-oiled Star Trekā¢ Factory at work when Voyager starts. We got the sets, we got the costumes and make-up, we got the actors, and we got the scripts, let's go.
I like to equate Voyager to the Disney Marvel movies. They have a formula, they stick to it, and what you get is essentially mediocrity. Nothing that is absolute dogshit like the Ooga Booga episode of TNG. Nothing especially fantastic like the one where Picard gets tortured, or the best Episodes of DS9. There are maybe, MAYBE 5 episodes of Voyager that are that good. But the majority aren't very offensive, they aren't very challenging, and they aren't very good.Just mediocre.
So by that measure, the show starts off relatively strong compared to the super awkward starts of TNG and DS9.

No dude it was Odo.
Rom had extremely low self-esteem, but he wasn't autistic at all. He had no problem talking to most people and eventually broke out from under Quark and made a life for himself.
Odo is the sperglord. Let's review:
>Captured and raised in a laboratory by an alien scientist
>They force you to do tricks and laugh at you constantly
>Eventually get let loose during the occupation
>Brought to the space station and named head of security
>Forced to do more tricks, laughed at, bullied
>Everyone thinks you're a freak
>Occupation ends, nice people show up
>Extremely hard to relate to people, look people in the eye, socialize
>Become a social pariah and outcast, stay in your office all day and barely talk to anyone
>Find it incredibly painful to make small talk, or talk about anything non-work related
>The ONE person in this world who hasn't treated you like shit your entire life is a Stacy and fucks Chads on the regular while keeping you in the friendzone
>Finally break down and tell her you love her
>It was a trick by your people
>She starts fucking another Chad
>Can't take it anymore and have an autistic spergout, trash your room
>Decide to go full MGTOW and fuck women
>The closest thing you have to a friend now is a literal troll
>The one thing that makes you unique, and the one thing you still feel any connection towards, your people, decide to banish you for killing another and turn you into the thing you hate the most, a solid
Am I missing anything?
>>84457842
Does anyone here currently regularly play? I just got into it for the first time a few weeks ago. Its actually pretty fun. Not gonna lie: a little low-budget and buggy but I'm pretty surprised it never got bigger. Glad its still around for me to experience though.

>>84457805
Fair enough points about Prototype. I guess I just have a soft spot for those dopey looking crash test dummy dudes. This was also one of the first episodes of Trek I saw when Space was airing constant reruns of VOY and DS9 and the concept seemed pretty novel at the time, but definitely cliche in hindsight.
>>84459189
If I remember right, she was giving replicator building materials to the Kazon, they blew themselves up, Voyager went to investigate and found the tech and deduced they had a leaker on board.
Seska only got found out when she beamed over and tried to scavenge the replicator but got gassed in the process.
She winds up in Piccardos med bay and he discovered she's got Cardassian blood, which she explained away as a birth defect or some shit.
Basically she tried to plant evidence on the assistant engineer and got caught, then she escaped to the Kazon
The end
>>84459339

>>84458780
Protip: If it has "Star" or "Trek" in any field, it is searchable by general fags. Random Star Trek threads have no identifiable information aside from the OP image. That's how the obnoxious faggots find these threads you know. They just hit up the catalog and search for Trek, and if they don't find anything they assume there isn't a thread and most likely fuck off back to their GoT or Doctor Who containment threads.
Random ST threads are comfy. Generals ruin everything.
Why are trektards such a bunch of shameless granny chasers? Is it a part of the gay thing, like worshipping Judy Garland or something?
