That's my point though. A Good Man Goes to War started in a warzone with the Strax scene, but the bulk of the episode took place on a set inside a facility. I don't doubt that some of the episode will take place in WW1 (or some similar looking environment with a Doctor Who spin), but I think it's a jump to assume the whole episode is about that, and that it will be about the Christmas truce.

So a few months back we saw a leaked set photo showing 2 actors dressed up like the 3rd Doctor and Delgado Master. It seems the fandom has largely ignored that.

And am I the only one willing to admit the massive plot holes and issues with WEaT? How is Mondas supposed to create the Cybermen when it happened on this ship instead? The episode's major issues would have been fixed by setting it on Mondas, especially because the whole "city on a ship" was stupid and made zero sense, let alone the apparent retcon in where the Cybermen came from. What, did Moffat really need some time dilation thing to make the Doctor fail to save his companion? Was he afraid the Doctor would look incompetent otherwise?

There's also the huge issue of the entire ship's population having sprung from a crew of 20 people- massive chance of inbreeding and genetic damage with a starter population that low, there's no way the population should be that large. I don't even mean "well their bodies are failing now due to it", they would have suffered between 2-4 generations in and not made it that anywhere near as far as they did.

I think it's pretty obvious by now that the cybermen on the ship are just an isolated offshoot of the real ones. I mean the fact that the evolve next episode means that they could never have been the ones from the classic series.

Was there any reason why Neil Gaiman didn't return to write an episode after Nightmare in Silver? That episode might've been dogshit but The Doctor's Wife was good enough for me to still want another episode by him regardless. Plus part of me thinks Series 7 was just cursed or something. Even Neil Cross couldn't write a decent episode, and he had 2 shots.

it's weird how quickly the Silence were swept into obscurity, considering they were built up to be 11's chief nemeses, and there have been several one-off villains since their last appearance that could have easily been Silence stories. No, the Monks were a new baddie in the current season with a 3-parter devoted to them for some reason.

They're aliens who look like mummies in robes, and for whatever reason they decide they want to rule Earth. But they won't just do a hostile takeover of Earth, because so many aliens have tried that and failed. So they begin by running incredibly detailed simulations of Earth takeover scenarios, so complex that they simulate The Doctor as a part of Earth history.

But the Doctor foils their simulations, so instead they land a giant pyramid in a desert someplace and orchestrate the release of a crazy plant virus that will wipe out all of humanity unless the Monks stop it. But they won't stop it unless Humanity agrees to let them rule the planet. And by all of Humanity I guess they mean Bill.

So they rewrite the brains of everybody on Earth to think that the Monks have always been there and have always ruled Earth. This plot is later foiled by Bill interrupting their psychic link to everybody on Earth by thinking about her mum.

Everybody on Earth remembers their real history and mobs the Monks' spaceship pyramids, and they flee the Earth. The whole thing is rendered devoid of any meaning or weight or consequences. It just kind of becomes a three episode long shrug.
