I think you mean the Carotid arteries friend. Jugular veins run along the sides of the neck.

Jugular and Carotid both run parallel to eachother on both sides of the neck. Puncturing the Jugular is a death sentence unless you get medical treatment pretty fucking fast, but the Carotid is the "thats fucking it" bit.
