>BJH: Actually in the movie, Mija is not vegan.

>TS: Her favorite food is chicken. But the chickens, she lives with them, and she has a different relationship with meat.

>BJH: So within the grand scheme of nature, [I] don’t oppose eating animals. Humans have been eating animals for a very long time, thousands and thousands of years. Even animals eat animals. These factories that process meat products in a mass factory scale have just been a very recent endeavor. It’s not really a problem with humans eating meat or the habit of eating meat. It’s a problem with the mass production and how we treat animals in the era of capitalism.

there is no way to make a job where you are surrounded by death appealing to normal people. The people that work those jobs are low in society so why would they give a fuck about making some cow or chickens feel comfier before being slaughtered? its a fruitless idea
>>
>>84396310
Can't be done, it is all about efficiency, and seeing as how the human population is only increasing we will need that efficiency.
>>
>>84397159
Dunno why I was (You)'d there, I was pointing towards just ending animal farming. Not just because I want the animals to be comfier which is bullshit, if you are raising an animal for food his well being is only second to how much meat he can yield but because we could actually use the fields that we use to grow their feed and actually feed everyone and the whole polution thingy.

The subs were pretty good throughout but in the first truck scene where they are escaping and Steven yeun's line is "learn English it'll open doors to you" in Korean he is telling her his name. Felt like a bizarre choice to explain why she tries to learn English which is pretty fucking obvious.

Which I feel makes the incredibly simplistic politics of the film work even less, like Bong doesn't have the conviction to write characters without mocking them. If you want to make a broad story against factory farming then do it and own it, don't inject that earnestness with cynicism directed at every character but the blandly innocent girl.

How do you differentiate factory farming from meat in today's society? If people are going to eat meat as much as they do, those factories are necessary.

>How do you differentiate factory farming from meat in today's society?

You cant really, unless there is a cultural change to eat less meat. But that wont happen anytime soon

And the local farms are slowly getting choked out, and most people cant and wont pay 50% more for their meat.

Itll all be factory farms in time

It's not "some executive", it's analytics companies, studios, marketing firms, and so on. You're paying to be tracked, and for that data to be sold with third parties. Netflix is behind HTML DRM, which aims to lock down the entire accessible web (imagine all websites being as restricted as Netflix - and then realize this is undoubtedly the future). It's basically as anti-user as it gets, and you as a subscriber are paying for it not only with money but with your data (which is not anonymous, at that).

Jake was hamming it up harder than Michael Sheen throughout the Twilight trilogy

It was great.

No, I just don't care about sad stories about dogs or propaganda pieces built around them. The Host, Memories of Murder, and Mother all had a great melancholy endings.

Except Mija enjoys eating chicken and catching fish. Okja was never livestock to Mija. She probably thought of him as a pet. The idea of people kidnapping her pet to eat it is actually lind of terrifying.

No one was going to eat her, she was just going to get the best super pig award.

I don't know but his character really got to me. There was something very tragic about him. I really hoped he be would redeem himself but he didn't and that made me sad.

This is the worse type of meat eater, the one that believes that animals can be raised and slaughtered for food that is "good for them". Here's a clue asshat, it makes no fucking difference.

I care less about the ethics of it, more about supporting the locals and the wellbeing of the animal. The healthier and happier the animal, the better the meat.

It does feel nice that they live a somewhat normal and happy life instead of wallowing in its own shit being caged from birth till death.

Not going to cut staples out of my diet because things have to be killed.

That was only after they fucked everything up and the crazy sister took over. Lucy had no intention of killing it. If they had minded their own business instead of attempting their "rescue" that never would have happened.
