I think FWWM had more of a problem with this too actually. Except instead of feeling like scenes dragged on too long it felt like scenes were too short. I have no problem with the pacing of season 3 so far but any problem people do have will likely go away if you're not watching on a weekly basis.

So I was never friends with him, never talked to him myself much; it's not that I was intimidated by him, but I guess my awe of David spread to him in like, a weird way. I also figured he was probably super sick of people trying to get buddy-buddy with him in hopes of meeting his dad; he was only at my school for a year and I got the sense he bounced around from college to college a lot.

The Missing Pieces does with some of its scenes added make the movie better but the theatrical cut, especially early after it goes to Twin Peaks, feels like parts were cut to make it fit a run time. I think it helps the fandom more to have had the, "we are never going to see anymore of this" emotion from watching the cliff hanger on season 2, and being forced to wait for something that might never happen, I watched it at a time when I assumed the worst and twin peaks was dead and never going to end, so I think there is something to that.

And I love every second of the new season, plus the book helped get me hyped as fuck.

I always used to try starting Twin Peaks threads to no avail. The hype was big for a while when S3 was confirmed, then again when Secret History released. I'm glad to have daily Twin Peaks threads, which I thought would never happen, even if the quality sucks because they're filled with 18 year old bandwagon memeists.

Douglas is arguably the most important character in the book. In the show he was basically just a joke character, but the book establishes him as this U.S. government secret UFO research agent guy, and he's the centerpiece of all the important information we learn about connections between the supernatural phenomena around Twin Peaks and their larger implciations. Episode 8 is easier to make sense of if you've read a specific part of the book involving Douglas and a guy named Jack Parsons.

Other than that, the only new information that we didn't already get from season 2 is that malevolent spirit meddling goes back centuries and might have something to do with the Illuminati. I wouldn't skip ALL of the ayylmao stuff, but just don't expect it to turn into the X-Files. It's more complicated than just "aliens".
