Riker wouldn't have been friends with any of us. He treated ensigns and other low ranking crewmen like insects.
>>
>>84376914
This is true. You can see especially so in certain episodes. Like in Tapestry where Picard becomes one of the medical personnel and Troi and Riker shit on him.

Really all of the senior officers were arrogant assholes.
>>
>>84376914
Riker gets more pussy before lunch than any of us will in our life. He has no reason to be friends with us.
>>
Just started season 2 of TNG enjoying it okay so far. Definitely feel a jump on quality from the first season. But y'all say that TNG doesn't get good until season 3 or later? I'm probably still going to watch them all just wanted to know what episodes i really need to look out for are
>>
>>84377134
Season 3 onwards is when the actors really start to fit their parts and feel more natural. The crew becomes more set and dynamics start to form. The story lines become a bit more natural and fresh. It loses that dated feel of the original series while still keeping it Star Trek.
>>

The Mirror universe fundamentally needs to answer some questions. Is it really a separate universe, or is it, like the name implies, just a reflection of the Prime reality? If that's the case, do the people living there really have free will? Are they even "people" as we'd define them?

Take the original Mirror ep, the other Enterprise just happens to be over the same planet, at the same time, with the exact same landing party, and an identical crew, what are the chances? McCoy even sees a spill in the lab that he made a year ago.

>>
>>84382249
I'm not very fond of DS9's last episodes because it plays too safe.
It was kind of obvious they were going in that direction with the Ferengi because they planned on making the Ferengi, everyone's favorite race, join the federation.
>>
>>84382249
>What if we just started inventing weaknesses for the borg?
>We'll call it... a Vinculum!
Granted Infinite Regress was cool but continually punching holes into the Borg is so tiresome.

I want them to go back to being wholly incomprehensible. Not villainous space zombies but with motives and purpose so different from we can truly comprehend as individuals that any seemingly hostile action is their failing to consider how they must seem to those who are so much "smaller"
>>
>>84382249
Yes, the turnaround in ferengi society was too quick, but the writers inadvertently left a hole in the whole thing:

Societal values were never shown to change, the only change was from the ferengi government with top-down reforms in taxation, social security, legalising rights for women etc.

Rom would not last as grand nagus, he would be displaced in a month and their society would return to normal. Zek was senile and simply followed his dick (lobes), the writers accidentally let in some red-pill by having him be the one to spearhead women's rights and then appoint the retard as the next king.
>>
tfw working my way through the original series for the first time.

Working my way through the 'important' season 1 episodes first, not sure if I should finish all the important episodes of the overall series first or if I should finish up the season before moving forward to the next.

Just got Errand of Mercy and then City on the Edge of Forever left in regards to important season 1 episodes, which I'm really looking forward to because apparently the latter is essential trekino.

>>
>>84382310
>Rom would not last as grand nagus, he would be displaced in a month and their society would return to normal.

Close to this, especially because Rom had basically no money when he became Nagus, no way the major Ferengi would respect him. I also like to imagine big Ferengi CEOs being like Bill Gates/Michael Jordan wrapped into one in terms of being idolised celebrities, and if they talk shit about Rom then the people will follow.

But Major Kirasteinberg, how did you propel your ship into orbit? You still need a significantly powerful rocket to achieve orbit of such a payload with that level of technology.

>>
>>84383356
Lol your an idiot
>>84383358
I couldn't be bothered getting into a debate about this right now, but you could say that the TOS translaters just weren't as good as TNG onwards, but w/e call the language what you like, I'll do the same
>>
>>84383356
There's no fucking canon at all in ST universe. Inconsistencies and lazuiess all around. Execs and writers wipe their asses with "canon" in pretty much every series.
>>
>>84383344
Yeah, but sometimes I hear klingon too. It's an UT malfunction? I thought it was supposed to be perfect

Yea its a odd line, your right it sounds like Chinese without the last E
>>
>>84383423
Why would you think it was perfect? Especially TOS era ones
>>
>>84383423
It's because the writer wants you to hear how the actual language sounds in that one important moment.
>>
>>84383423
This >>84383441
Also Klingon is the only ST language that's fully functional the writers the actors everyone liked using it, but you can't have an entire ep of nothing but klingon closest they came was search for Spock and even then doc brown switches back and forth

Hypothetical Episode:

The crew of the USS _____ happen upon a planet whose culture has developed limited warp drive and, inexplicably, a macguffin technology that makes them distinct somehow. This planet's people also have simple cybernetics that allow them to link together and better coordinate. The people express excitement at better developing their warp technology to join the galactic community, but are confused when they notice that the crew of the USS whatever aren't linked like they are - they assumed that any space-faring race must surely have evolved beyond a strong sense of individualism and only achieved space flight through great coordination the likes of their cybernetics afford them, and then the reveal would be that their first actual contact with the galactic community was when they piqued the interest of the borg (somehow) but were passed up for assimilation due to their (at the time) technological irrelevance, and also at the time they assumed the galaxy was largely like themselves and the borg, which is to say closely linked

The crew would then spend most of the time in bewilderment that these people would want to willingly give themselves up to the Borg, the species are bewildered that anyone would choose to be so chaotic and unstructured as the crew are, crew argues that they could find that sense of unity and purpose in the federation, etc etc, episode ends with a sphere beaming some drones down and without a struggle the planet gives itself up to assimilation, standard captain and other officer interaction, roll credits.

Anyhow there's that half-baked idea

Jake is not a Black Wesley. Jake, for the most part, stays out of the way and acts like a regular teenage boy. Wesley is annoying because he's a super special super genius that get's to be part of the bridge crew of the flagship of the federation due to nepotism. The only time Jake is portrayed like that is with the space succubus and that was one of the worst episodes ever. Every other time he's treated like a regular human being. I don't know how you can outright hate Jake when he's barely in the show and actually has some great episodes associated with his character (The Visitor).

The only good Wesley episode was when he finally got his comeupance and then he disappears from the show instead of developing into a likable human being.

But again, he's barely in the show. The fact that he can't act isn't a big deal to me when he's almost never given big emotional scenes to do, except for, off the top of my head, The Visitor, in which he does a fine job and the episode where he leaves Bashir to die, which granted, was pretty bad.

I like what Jake meant to Sisko and their relationship as a whole. And I like Jake's relationship with Nog. Even if Jake himself isn't the strongest character, the show wouldn't be the same without him. You can't say the same for Wesley as, with pretty much every character in TNG, he never had any real meaningful relationships with anyone else on the ship.

>>84385338

It didn't feel deserved. Wesley was someone who wanted to be a part of Starfleet and got to jump into the bridge seat without any real effort. A lot of the episodes involving Wesley put special attention to how gifted and brilliant he was which got real annoying real fast because there is nothing endearing about someone who doesn't work hard and doesn't deserve it. Compare him to Nog who had to claw his way into the academy and defy everyone's expectations so that he could earn a spot on the Defiant. You cheer for Nog because he's the underdog, you don't cheer for Wesley because he was born flawless.

He came from a family with no mum and a moron dad and a criminal uncle, got into starfleet just barely, fawns over chad squad at the Academy, gets them arrested for Treason, gets shipped out to do work experience on DS9, then the war breaks out and he can't go back to the academy, he pulls his weight like an officer twice his age and earns his place on the Defiant and into an early commission, all the while Chad squad, the supposed best of the best, get ventilated by their own hubris.

Agreed. Borg were best when they didn't care about the puny human intruders on their ship, they shouldn't even acknowledge aliens unless they see something they want. Honestly, they should have been more AI than robot, things like being 100% goal focused, maybe do an episode where the Enterprise finds a crazy space anomaly that they're trying to contain which threatens some backwater world but failing, and a dozen cubes warp in and start sacrificing themselves en masse to stop it, completely ignoring the humans, even if Worf opens fire on them. At the end, they Borg fixes everything and leave without ever hailing them, they have no idea why. Starfleet Intelligence might suspect later that the anomaly threatened the Borg too somehow, but it's impossible to tell. Like Apes trying to comprehend us.

Fun fact - Morn was in more episodes than Jake.

I am not shitting you, go look it up. ~20 episode difference, iirc. Morn at 90+ and Jake at 70ish.

Shades of grey isn't a real episode, it's a clip show filler due to a writer's strike.

What difference does it make? We're talking about semi-major character and actor, both weren't very good.
Morn was a running joke and nothing else.

btw, have you noticed that Morn actually speaks in one episode in later seasons, there was some party or whatever and you can see him in the background - he's talking to someone, his "lips" are moving and all. But we can't hear him of course.

>“Star Trek: Voyager” actress Jennifer Lien was arrested and has been in custody for two weeks after allegedly exposing herself in front of several children, Roane County police confirm.

>A neighbor of Lien’s made a complaint to police after Lien began a tirade due to a crying child, and during her tirade, exposed her breasts and buttocks. The neighbor stated that she had three children in the yard while this was happening.

The set and uniform design is more reminiscent of Galaxy Quest than Star Trek.
>>
>>84389950

How could it not happen though. It was a project that wasn't needed or wanted in the first place and only served to launch a new network. Series fatigue and dwindling ratings combine with a lot of on set tension caused it to suffer.

Voyager could have worked if it was made years later with enough time and care but yeah, the cast didn't deserve it. But thats the difference between a production made out of love and a production made to fill a time slot.
