Somehow my family knew nothing of this story.

It seemed to me as if these terrible events had been completely erased from memory.

Who, if not we, could be a credible witness to the fact that the victims were not, an anonymous mass?

Who, if not we, could name them, and thus help bring down the walls of silence and taboo?

By reversing the anonomization, we give our murdered relatives their identity, and some dignity back.

Why did they cast Capaldi for the 12 doctor? Don't get me wrong, I love him and he was a dream cast, but surely they'd know that having the doctor be old again would make the massive teenage girl audience drop the show.

>DOCTOR: We're the most civilised civilisation in the universe. We're billions of years beyond your petty human obsession with gender and its associated stereotypes.
>>
>>84374580
Same. I'm alright with a female Doctor as long as her gender isn't brought up often and if it is brought up I want it to tie into the time era their in
>>
>>84374796
I hate how they reference stuff like that but they don't reference other obvious stuff.
For example, in Empress of Mars that guy had a problem with the notion of being in the police, but didn't even mention the fact she was black. Apparently being a woman was a huge stepping stone to Victorian police, but there were thousands of black policemen.
>>
>>84374773
And he's then immediately called out on that by her bringing up the fact that they still use masculine and feminine titles. That quote doesn't even have anything to do with sexual preference anyway.
>>
>>84374640
I couldn't care less if the actor/actress was gay, but the character shouldn't be overtly homosexual. The Doctor is meant to be beyond that shit. Did Eccleston, Tenant and Smith have little gay moments? Yes, but they were quick, humorous, tasteful even. They weren't something to identify him by. The moment they make the Doctor's sexuality something by which to identify him is the moment the show goes terminal.
>>
>>84374854
My point is they'll make up any shit as long as it sounds progressive.
I don't feel like traipsing through to find you other such quotes are you're set in the mindset "They never made the Doctor gay and it wouldn't even matter if they did you nazi bigot", so this conversation is exceptionally pointless.
>>

>>84374354
He's a dark manifestation of all the evil of the doctor somewhere between his penultimate and final incarnations.
>>

>>
>>84374954
It would matter greatly if they made the Doctor gay. I think we're actually on the same side here.So yeah, kinda pointless
>>
>>84375227
We're not, I'm on the retarded extreme far right "hates everything not a straight white male christian" side and you're on the rational "let's not mess with it too much" side.
>>
>>84375280
In terms of our preference for the Doctor, you and I are in the exact same boat my friend. Casting the Doctor for the sake of diversity would ruin the show and at this point, it wouldn't be for any other reason no matter what they claim.
>>
>>84375544
The difference is you would probably support a talented black actor taking the role, where as I wouldn't, for the same reason I wouldn't want James Bond to be played by anyone but a dsrk haired white man.
having said that id fuck the shit out of that qt gook watson they did in the yank version of sherlock holmes
>>
>>84375701
>The difference is you would probably support a talented black actor taking the role
The role of the companion, sure. I'd drop it if he were the Doctor. The companion is always a strong character, and 99% of the time is a woman anyway. All these people demanding a female Doctor are devaluing the importance of all of the companions.
>>
>>84375780
This is the dumbest fucking thing I've never read.
>>
>>84375819
It's like representation doesn't count unless it's the main character.
>>
A female doctor would be fine by me if casted correctly. Hard to imagine all the character's eccentricities feeling natural though and can't for the life of me come up with a suitable actress.

I just think the entire way they've handled it is terrible, they had two viable options and they chose neither:
1.This reality is exactly like ours, with all it's historical views on race and sex.
2. This reality is nothing like ours, with non of our historical views on race or sex.

Example, in Thin Ice you have Bill, a black woman, walking around regency era London, she asks the Doctor if slavery is a thing, he says it is, very much so. Okay, so we're in a 99% white society where all minorities are treat like shit, right? Wrong, we're in a 50% white society where there is no animosity between races. So then why the fuck does slavery exist in this timeline? They put real world discrimination in, i.e: slavery, and yet it's 50% white and there is no apparent tension between the whites and the non whites, furthermore the soldiers are black, so the people enforcing this non existent slavery are themselves black?

Furthermore, the Doctor's reaction to it, here we see a white aristocratic man telling a poor black woman to "respect her betters", which, whatever way you look at this, that was the fact then. In every single catagory he would be deemed a social better than her in that era. But what does the Doctor do? He gets so mad he goes on a sperg rage and hits him.

So I'm expected to believe the Doctor would:
1. Put himself at an extreme strategic disadvantage. (he was tied up due to this.)
2. Completely lose control of the situation in that manner.
3. React so strongly to what would have been expected in that era in that world.

I mean, I could just about understand it if he had nothing to lose by doing this, but he was in a situation where he was calmly discussing something with a man he wanted information from, and because of a single comment he flew into a fit of rage, what the fuck? Is the Doctor known to have bad impulse control?

Honestly, they've killed the show for me. I keep watching it, but it's like watching someone shoveling shit on a grave.

What if in the finale, 12 finds a way to indefinitely delay his regeneration and uses this new power to go on adventures with Clara and Me through space and time for all eternity?
>>
>>84376995
My biggest problem with the Ten regeneration is the lengthy goodbye tour. I loved Ten telling Rose she's "going to have a great year" it's a beautiful book end of sorts to an era and yes, its moved me to tears a couple of times when I've watched that scene by itself without all the nonsense that comes before it.

But yeah, the nonsense. Ten pushing Sarah Jane Smith's kid out of the way of a car, Donna getting that lottery ticket, Martha & Mickey randomly being a couple, and so on? Didn't need it.

>>
The new doctor has never seen doctor who. The actor needs to understand the basics of the show over the years.
Your task: select one story from each doctor - it can be any length - but it must exist in a complete form (no missing episodes) and it needs to show the actors playing the doctor at their best. Story quality isn't the point, "lore" isn't the point - it's about displaying each actor at their best - their most doctorish.

Not bad, could you elaborate on the green death? While I'm not a huge fan of Pertwee, I have a handful of episodes which really endear his performance to me - other than the notable ending, I didn't really consider this one.
>>
>>84380467
In all honesty for Pertwee I just picked my favorite episode, since I couldn't really think of his best performance-wise. What were the ones you were thinking of?
>>
I really wish they would put the names for Capaldi, Mackie and Lucas at the beginning of the title sequence; The segment with the cogs is really bland with nothing there.
>>
>>84380487
To be clear, some of these episodes I'm not particularly fond of on the whole, but I remember getting a big kick out of Pertwee
>the silurians
While I think this story is massively over hyped, Pertwee really gets into it and the Doctor's friction with the military is actually explored, where as later its practically treated as a gag.
>inferno
I love the scenes in the alternative universe, the rest is pretty trashy - but again, Pertwee really makes it work in those scenes

The entire series arc was god awful, and retroactively hurt the previous seasons. And it was full of garbage stories like Planet of the Ood, the Sontaran 2 parter, The Doctor's Daughter, and Unicorn and the Wasp. A couple of good episodes is standard for the show, and Donna is pretty fucking overrated and doesn't really have a role at all in the good episodes of the series.

There's no such thing. Series 4 is no more cohesive than any other series. Just because there's a little reference to Rose in each episode doesn't change anything other than remind you on repeated viewings of series 4 that there's a god awful finale at the end of it.
At least the plot arc stayed out of your way for the most part in his other series.

Both Russell and Moffat are terrible at show arcs; Russell just can't plain write a decent one and hams everything up to hell and back, and Moffat is so obsessed with over-complicating everything to seem clever that he forgets to answer any questions and just leaves everything unsatisfying and convoluted.

Series arcs were a mistake - and their trend of ruining the episodic nature of the show by trying to shove in some connection to a bigger picture that is 9 times out of 10 worse than the smaller picture is awful. Even Series 10 which has had a relatively smaller series arc than past series has still felt the need to tack on a scene with the Vault or Missy here and there that ultimately adds nothing to said episode, nor makes the finale any better.
>>
>>84381532
The stolen planets arc was decent, and seeing Davros was great. It's better than Bad Wolf or the letdown of the mattress episodes in s3. (utopia excluded)

Planet of the Ood and the Sontaran 2 parter are easily 6/10 or 7/10 good stories and nowhere near as bad as the other 2 you listed.

>Donna doesn't have a role

She has a role in every other story with the exception of the library 2 parter and partners in crime.

By cohesive, I mean it's a good collection of stories as opposed to the fluctuating quality of every other season. There's no Fear Her equivalent in S4 like there were in s1/s3.

The plot arc staying out of the way is also pretty nice.
>>
>>84381654
>The stolen planets arc was decent, and seeing Davros was great.
I wholeheartedly disagree. I felt The Stolen Earth was just as bad as Journey's End.

>Planet of the Ood and the Sontaran 2 parter are easily 6/10 or 7/10 good stories
I would say that's a bit generous, but you're right that they aren't as bad as the other two. Still, I wouldn't give a series where frankly half the episodes are mediocre a place in "great tier," that's all I really meant with my initial reply. I think that series 1, 2, 5, 6, 8, 9, and 10 are all better than 4 to be honest.

episodes 8-10 are literally the only good ones, and everything else is shit. the only thing iconic about them is how bad they are, since they are some of the most stand out terrible episodes in the show's history with trash like the human dalek, mark gatiss as a scorpion, "burn with me," and the super old baby tennant that and flying power of belief tennant finale.
it's fucking shit, pure unfiltered trash.
>amazing directing crew
give some examples please, because nothing to me about s3's direction seemed any more noteworthy than the other tennant seasons - but the writing quality was sure as shit a lot lower.

when? nothing's noteworthy about his performance in s3; he does a better job in s4 and the specials. one of the best episodes of s3 literally just has tennant on a dvd recording for a couple minutes.

Jesus fucking christ, that's been the best thing about series 9 and 10.
The problem is with the episodes themselves; series 9 made a huge mistake by having almost every episode be a two parter when they only do 12 episodes a year, since there are barely any good stories in there. S10's had a few good episodes, but the monks three-parter was a fucking mistake, that's for sure.
>>
>>84382458
literally the only bad episodes are dalek two parter and last of the time lords if you really hate Doctor jesus

>>
''The clock on the wall shows half past midnight, marking the end of days for the 12th Doctor. Stuck on a vast spaceship alongside a black hole, he’s trapped on the roof of a hospital from hell, while the two incarnations of his best “frenemy”, Missy and the Master, dance in delight at his plight. “We’ve been debating the best way to kill you,” says the latter. What a dark joy it is to see John Simm, Michelle Gomez and Peter Capaldi sparking off one another as series ten shudders to a close.

The Doctor may have a cunning plan, but what can be done for poor Bill (the departing Pearl Mackie), who is struggling to accept her complete cyber-conversion? “I don’t want to live if I can’t be me any more,” she tells her friend. For once, he has no answer.

Steven Moffat’s hour-long finale The Doctor Falls has epic ambition, moments of revelation and even pockets of romance as the Doctor struggles to hold the Cybermen – and his regeneration – at bay.''

And watch out for a very original cliffhanger (more of an icebreaker) teeing up the Christmas special.

>an icebreaker

If Bradley breaks out of the ice with "I want to break free!" playing in the background, I will laugh.
>>
Missy and the Master will both fatally wound each other, resulting in Simm regenerating into Gomez, and Gomez regenerating into someone new (not seen).

The Doctor has been regenerating since Oxygen when he was blinded, holding it in as seen in The Lie of the Land, and hence Missy asking if he was "alright" in Empress of Mars.

We see a slight continuation of the regeneration scene from last week - showing a quick glimpse of the next Doctor: Kris Marshall.

The episode ends with David Bradley showing up as the First Doctor, leading into the Christmas Special.
>>
>>84382692
Moffat should just stop listening to SJWs.

Or not have companion converted into cyberman if he has no guts to go through with it.

Really, companions should start leaving off their own accord. It kinda makes Doctor look bad, like he keeps picking up replacement people to die. Part of Doctor's character is to be sort of extreme sport instructor, and instructor with almost 100% death/MIA rate does not look good.

>Really, companions should start leaving off their own accord.
Honestly they really ought to. The showrunners clearly think that they have to be original with each companion's exit, which just ends up being really stupid and making the Doctor look bad. I would've thought Death in Heaven would make for a good exit for Clara, and Martha's exit was one of my favorites too. The idea that a companion just sees enough or has an experience that's just too much for them causing them to distance themselves is interesting, and while it's not incredibly happy, it's a lot happier than them getting killed off or having their memory wiped or some other bullshit.

Having her die despite doing nothing wrong here, just as a "hey look the master is evil" just makes Bill feel like a pawn rather than a character.

I don't mind the concept of Peter's one with the whole clock thing, but the execution's really off, and the theme is awful.

Another thing: I also unironically love the DW Tardis logo and think that the logo as it is used in the more recent seasons looks incomplete without it.

Hardly, stop using words you don't understand.
Compare her to Karen in that police miniskirt - God fucking damn.
>God tier DSLs
Kek, her lips are just ugly and big, how on earth is that attractive?
>Can actually act
As can Karen, and Karen can do it without making autistic facial expressions for "drama."

Overally Matt's first one is my favourite. I'm really split on his second one though. The first half, which is just a incoherent parade of bad special effects, but as soon as the credits start it becomes GOAT.
As for the music, Paul's Big Finish theme is my favourite.

>but as soon as the credits start it becomes GOAT.
I really like it too, but I hate the font used for the names (more specifically how wide the spacing on the letters is), and the texture on the logo just looks plain bad. The time vortex at the end looks really off to me too.
>>
>>84383938
>Paul's Big Finish theme is my favourite.
Yeah, mine too. It's so eerie and yet so calming.
>>
When was the last time we saw the time vortex?

calling it now: because he held his regen in for so fucking long, it's gonna fuck up badly and mean that the Doctor keeps switching between all his different incarnations (ala The Eleven from audios). This is how we'll see Bradley and maybe even Matt Smith.

At the end of Christmas, it will stabilise on 13.
