As a trained military operative the chances of surviving this even for someone such as myself are very low, but your best bet is to start running for cover trying to maneuver as best as you can.

Even trained people have a hard time hitting a running target and since he only seems to have a pistol the chances are even lower. I know he is a serial killer but every human gets nervous when holding someone at gunpoint.

Plenty of exceptions. Highly intelligent, cold and calculating - Ted Bundy has been mentioned already, Jeffery Dahmer had a genius level IQ, Lawrence Bittaker did too.
