this. It's really not difficult. The time-shifting spell Strange was using was incredibly powerful magic. He wasn't supposed to be using it. Mordo didn't just throw a bitchfit because he's a bitch he did so because time fuckery is arguably the most dangerous shit in the world. Especially inter-dimensional time fuckery.

Honestly, I'm assuming now Thanos destroys everything but that Strange created some kind of loop or glitch (maybe a stitch since he's a surgeon) in time so that they just reset for "Part 2" of IW (which I realize isn't part 2 anymore) in order to fuck him up somehow the second time.

I'm pretty sure in DS the eternal one as well as his or her underlings are tasked with keeping order. Dormammu's base-intentions are to take control of everything. I think it could have been investigated a bit better in the movie with Mads' character if he'd professed the word of Dormammu better. The intent was there, if simple, "I'm trying to save people from death by ending time.", but if he was able to really profess that Dormammu isn't evil he's just acting on a natural inclination. It kinda goes to shit because the audience is left thinking "Dark Dimension = Dormammu is evil" which is relatively basic and, as far as I know, true to who he is in the comics.

I think maybe Disney didn't want that narrative considering I think that's almost exactly what they're going to do with star wars. The dark side isn't evil just naturally inclined to want the world to be "x" where as the jedi are naturally inclined to want to the world to be "y".
