There was a point when this was an epicly great show (the Vietnam Reenactment and Hot Tub of Horror episodes are classics), but it has very noticeably declined in quality for a few seasons.

I watched it religiously up until 8 or 9 and then stopped. If I catch it on, I watch it and am usually disappointed. But I'm to the point that I don't care to follow it.

Honestly, my favorite of the McFarlane shows was Cleveland show. The characters were much funnier and the plots were usually more entertaining and better written. The weakest of them is Family Guy that also has greatly declined in quality.

AD has cohesive story with characters with motivation behind their actions. I actually enjoy Family Guy too, I mean for what it is. Family Guy is only about jokes, the characters have no real wants or needs they just sort of do whatever they need to do for the joke. Well except for Briand and Stewie, which is why their episodes generally are the ones most likely to be good.
