The scenes were for different purposes.

The battle of Endor was a backdrop for the confrontation between Luke and Vader and served as an emotional/tonal compliment.
The Battle of Scarif was itself the climax and highpoint of the movie, even if Disney wanted you to care more about Jyn

As an isolated battle, I would say Scarif is better. Even through the technology plays a large role in the increased quality, i think the main factor is how it's paced

Endor by a huge margin. The music is thrilling, you care about the characters and there's a genuine sense that the Rebels are getting their asses kicked. I'd say it is the second best space battle ever put on film. Weirdly enough the best was done in a zero budget Finnish production.

the battle of Scarif is actually great when seen like this. I had totally forgotten about the Y-wings disabling the Star Destroyer. It's got some absolutely great visuals.

but ultimately it's testament to just how truly forgettable the cast was in Rogue One.


but Endor has a more grandiose feeling to it thanks to not only the music itself, but how it's scored and synced up with the visuals.
well, granted it is literally a bigger battle.
