Has it really gotten better, or is it just better than the absolute garbage that was season 2?

I stopped watching because honestly this show just doesn't do it for me. I can still watch TWD despite the decline in quality because I've been watching it for years, and it's still slightly entertaining at times, but FTWD is just bland, boring, the characters suck and the setting is not interesting. Those episodes on the boat could have been good, but it was so awful, so poorly done, then everything after that was just terrible, especially the stuff in Mexico.
