I’ve been rewatching series 1 and listening to the commentaries. Steven Moffat is one of the commentators on TEC/TDD, along with John Barrowman and David Houghton, visual effects supervisor.
You can probably guess where this is going.
They do say some cool and interesting stuff. Moffat is very complimentary about CE’s acting. I sometimes think Barrowman is a little too full of himself, but he’s amusing most of the time. They make some jokes about Jack’s sexuality that are in questionable taste, but since Barrowman is the one starting it, I guess you have to give it a pass.
But then, after Nancy says that the gasmask creatures are all her fault, and the Doctor starts to realize that she’s not what she seems, Moffat jokes about what’s going on in the Timelord’s mind:
SM: He’s putting it all together in his big Doctor Who brain. He’s thinking “You slut. You little slapper . ..[laughter] …So are you busy later, dear? So you’re 21? Come into the Tardis.”
Now, me, I can make dirty jokes and lewd headcanons with the worst of them. But there’s a time and a place, Mr. Moffat, and this is neither.
In the context of the story, finding out that Nancy is Jamie’s mother is poignant. It adds depth to her character and makes her even more of a hero than she already is. For me, it also brought up the question of whether the act that got her pregnant was consensual or not. After all, there are references to other members of her band being abused by adults.
At least Moffat leaves well enough alone in the actual script, and we get our poignant moment. But in the back of his mind, behind the scenes, when he’s trying to be witty and irreverent and his filter is off, what does he think? A woman who’s had sex = a woman to be vilified and propositioned.
So yeah, ick.

I think the whole mystery about her identity and what she was in prison for kind of killed any potential that relationship had. She was so deliberately mysterious throughout Series 5 and 6 that it prevented any meaningful bonding between her and Eleven. It's a shame because, after re-watching Husbands and the Library two-parter recently, I think it could have been nice.

I mean really, the meeting in the wrong order stuff was enough. Moffat didn't need to add "she's the future TARDIS-fueled baby of your companions" or "she was raised with the express purpose of killing you" to the mix. He certainly didn't need to add both.

Kris Marshall hype. He is literally the Doctor as Capaldi was.

Well, at least whilst in this regeneration. He could only last nearly ten minutes being idle without needing to engage in some form of activity.

So for the past ten minutes, the Doctor had been completely bored out of his mind.

Clara had said she would be straight down, but that had been ten minutes ago. And before that ten minutes, he had spent hours waiting for her to wake up. That, of course wasn't her fault. Wasn't her fault that she was nearly sucked into the wifi.

But on the other hand, it was her fault that she was taking forever to come down the stairs. Perhaps she had a problem with stairs. Perhaps a phobia of them. Regardless of that, the Doctor's impatience got the better of him (Impatience that was mingled with worry for Clara) and he hopped off his seat, and entered the house.

The Time Lord had been searching everywhere for Clara. It had sort of become his obsession, and this time he was determined to keep her, to not have her die again.

The Doctor ascended the stairs, and judging by the fact that Clara wasn't at the top of them cowering in fear told him that perhaps she didn't have a fear of stairs.

The Doctor reached the top, and looked around now that he was on the landing. There were several doors on the second floor, all leading into rooms that the Doctor wasn't quite sure what they held. So, to see if any of them had a certain small brunette in them, he checked each one.

He had checked the majority of the doors, and none of them had held Clara Oswald inside of them. So he came to conclude that she was either in the final room that was yet to be checked, or had ran out the back door, afraid of the mad man that was sitting in her garden with a police box.

The Doctor opened the final door just a crack. At first glance, the room was empty, despite being where he knew Clara room to be. All looked normal inside the room. Yet when the Time Lord opened the door just a tiny bit more, his eyes were greeted with a sight that made his freeze up.

Clara Oswald was standing with her back to the Time Lord, not having heard the door open. Every thing had seemed to be completely normal, with the exception that Clara was naked.

Then, Clara Oswald turned around, and the Doctor was greeted with the sight of her flat stomach and her bare boobs exposed against her pale skin. Clara's gasp caused the Doctor old self to come into action. His hand sprung over his eyes, his vision going black. He tried to back away without seeing anything.

But only walked straight into a wall.

"Ow!" Cried, as he felt himself falling, and then feeling that he was lying on the ground. The Time Lord felt that it was safe to remove his hand, so he did so, the world coming back into view.

"Doctor! Are you all right?" Clara asked, as her image appeared, covering the piece of ceiling that the Doctor had been observing. The Doctor noticed that she had wrapped herself in a towel, and her face was flushed.

I also forgot to mention Big Finish, check out at least Eighth Doctor's stuff (starting with Storm Warning) and continue to listen at least Chimes of Midnight which is one of the best DW stories ever written. The audio stuff is not so much for the lore but for the quality, it's normally quite a bit more adult than the TV show and the stories are more often good than not.
