The actual future is animal protein of all types grown in labs. It's far more efficient and sustainable and we've made huge strides in the field of lab-grown meat. Literally the only problem right now is that lab-grown meat doesn't taste quite like animal-grown meat because it's just pure protein, whereas animals have the flavor of their meat affected by the things they eat. People aren't used to the taste of pure animal protein matter, so the current hurdle to cross is making lab-grown meat palatable to people, then the next step is just doing it more and more until it catches on and we drive the costs of its production ever further down with higher volume and newer techniques/technology.

I can fucking guarantee you, had humans never interfered with and domesticated animals for consumption like we did, that those animals would have extremely small lifespans. We breed and harvest animals for their meat and byproducts, which means they are (more often than not) at adulthood. The rate of animals reaching adulthood in the wild is minuscule compared to the ones in captivity used for their meat. You'll cry and say that "But da aminals don't wana be in cages". I say bullshit. Animals aren't able to reason and question like Humans, they don't have complex brains that drive them to explore the stars, they're driven entirely by instinct. That instinct is to reproduce. We allow them to reproduce, fulfilling their biological programming. It ridiculous to think that consuming animals is "amoral" simply because /some/ people treat /some/ animals like shit, especially when PETA has murdered animals much closer to the heart.
