I unironically liked this kino

Bad reviews hurt it. It made the number one spot on its opening weekend, but it also made considerably less than other similar Will Smith movies like Independence Day and Men in Black. You also have to consider that, while it sold a lot of tickets, it was also released in a lot more theaters (I think it was record breaking at the time, or close to it). Honestly, I think people were sick of the film before it came out. It had so heavily advertised and that fucking song was played all the fucking time. At least I was sick of it.

Honestly, though, for what it is, it's not a bad movie.

And at least we weren't getting article after article about how "brave" movies like Wild Wild West and Super Mario were for starring PoCs. At least we weren't getting hashtags about how Wild Wild West is "erasing trans people" by having a dude in a dress or how Super Mario fatshames Big Bertha.
