I actually did some work on Attack of the clones. Yes, there were a some miniatures built for the movie, but eventually they were only used as reference for CGI backdrops, because it wasn't possible to create complex camera movements with miniatures and Lucas wanted a lot of dynamic battles in the movie.

when i saw this in theatres in 2003, i thought the cgi here was amazing - i honestly couldn't tell the difference between the real people and what was cgi.

two years later when i saw it on tbs, after like 2 years of playing xbox games, i immediately was able to tell how dated the cgi was.

now when i see this, it's completely unwatchable because of how bad the cgi is compared to even moderte video games.

time sure flies.
