I'm guessing the reason is that if this isn't "Mary Jane" they would have more negotiating power for sequels in terms of how much they pay her, while at the same time feeling like a "twist" on an old thing. I'd half expect the next movie will have a different girl named Mary Jane who's first line will be "Face it tiger, you hit the jackpot"
