ITT: 10/10 movie costumes
>>84251922
I'm almost certain this movie was what planted the seeds for me becoming a sexual reprobate later on in life.
>>84252334
Me too, man. This movie gave me a severe latex fetish.

Always loved their wardrobe design in this movie. Damn, I miss the 90s.
Ben Hur costumes
>>84252560
>>84251821
Who would have thought CGI capes would become the norm? Spawn was ahead of it's time.
>>84252982
Damn right, it was. Must have rented Spawn from the video shop a million times in the 90s.
>>84253058
>>84252982
>>84251821
unpopular opinion but i honestly think they should add spawn to the dceu considering how he's already part of the TDKR universe.

>>84253109
>Enough from the Clown!
Can never watch that scene without thinking about Spawn.
>>84253109
>he's already part of the TDKR universe.
When did this happen?
>>84253058
This is a good example of a single 10/10 scene in an otherwise shit movie.
>>84253133
Agreed
>>84251821
i really liked malebolgias cgi costume
>>84253523
>>84251821
What would it take to make a quality Spawn movie in the 2010s? For my money...
>downplaying the superhero/paranormal/sci-fi elements of the comics/first movie
>focusing on the urban horror aspect of the character/story
>potentially take the focus off of Spawn himself and keep him shrouded in mystery; make his presence felt throughout the entire film but don't necessarily make him the protagonist
>make sure to get the visual aesthetic of the film right; going for a look stuck somewhere between Se7en and the simultaneously cartoonish and dark look of the 90s comics
>>84252442
he looks like old biff from bttf 2

>>84251957
This.
Everything post-Winter Soldier was god tier.
>>84253308

I really hope the reboot is more loyal to the source material (aesthetically and in Hellboy's personality terms)
>>84254131
It still looked better than the chicken neck Nolan gave the Batsuit that made Bale's head look enormous.
>>84254298
>I really hope it's more like the comic

People like you are ruining capeshit.
>>84254131
Point?
>>84254465
yeah of course I'm hoping it to be good... why would I want the opposite?
also,
>implying making it more like the comics isn't equal to making a good Hellboy film
The entire movie is 10/10 costume design.
>>84254091
how is this movie shit you pleb

Why does his fur look like pubic hair?
>>84254208
They were cool but I had no idea what the fuck they were supposed to be.
I get that Hobo with a Shotgun is supposed to be grindhousey as shit, but in the context of a film about a scummy gangster and his sons that rule a city and a hobo trying to take them down, two living suites of armor on motorcycles didn't quite make any sense.
>>84253058
almost as cool as this

Still pretty much the coolest armour I've ever seen in a movie.

Maybe I should have said "kinda shit". Bad acting (what little acting there was —
McDermott did his job, I suppose) and a really lacking plot, plus some really cheesy moments. The cameos were great, though. It's fun to watch from time to time.
>>84255121
Aesthetic 10/10
>>84252768
Cute nipples and plastic abs. Boy this superhero shit is ridiculous. If I'd be a superhero I don't think I could actually manage to order an outfit like that without laughing.
>>84255121
Whoever made that should've gotten a damn oscar
>>84254343
the cown was too narrow, they could improve that thing.. like this british guy did >>84255314
>>84255439
His costume in the graphic novel made a lot more sense. The nipples were a direct satire of bat nipples and Snyder had to grey down the color scheme of course so you get nothing close to what it was supposed to be
>>84255314
all those gadgets are sick, but if all those armor panels were actually functional, the suit would be even clunkier and heavier
BvS suit is better because it is lighter, skintight, and more flexible
Batman rather not even get shot at than try to deflect bullets
>>84254799
It's a skin condition!
>>84255524
I really liked the new suit, too bad they bulked to much it leave little room for neck, and it just seems.. unatural

Thats almost exactly what Mcfarlane is doing/trying to do right now. A fairly low budget "boogeyman" movie about Spawn
>>84256198
yes, sorry about that.
>>84255524
>Batman rather not even get shot at than try to deflect bullets
Then they stuck in a tension-destroying bit where he gets shot point-blank in the head and was bulletproof the entire time.
>>84251821
Pic related.
>>84253058
For the time, this bit of cgi was fantastic. Even now its great. Violator looked good too.
Spawn was a victim of it's age, if it was made now it would be amazing,
I use this as a wallpaper every now and then
>>84253780
McFarlane has been trying to get a new film going for years which is basically a detective noir with Sam & Twitch, where Spawn is a whispered myth in the shittier parts of the city.
It won't happen as Spawn is too much of an anti-hero and studios want Avengers films to make toys of.
>>84252442
>>84253790
He looks like Goldmember
>>84253815
Too bad his costume for the rest of the movie is just normal clothes and a goofy sandnigger hat
>>84256144
This isn't the case ?
>>84256144
is that not how it is?
>>84252560
I love this movie and I've never valued this, thanks anon
>>84253058
All the cgi scene was great, except for the part when he went into hell.
Still pretty impressive with what they've done with 90s cgi, it truly was capeshit ahead of its time
>>84257851
You think so? I dunno man, I thought it was pretty corny, especially compared to Hellraiser shit. Spawn was just a live action cartoon. The comics were more hardcore. Little kid fingers and whatnot... good times. But spic clown dude was pretty badass.
>>84251821
I remember being awed by the cape effect they had. But boy, did the other CGI stuff suck badly. I saw this recently again, and the hell parts are just terrible. The cape stuff still works tough,
>>84258561
he should've have the cape when he was normal still

>>84254712
which makes it all the more disappointing that it was written horrbily, acted poorly, and pitifully directed
>>84254298
He had boots on the entire time, for all you know he could have hooves. In fact I think it was shown the baby Hellboy in fact had hooves in the beginning, so you can just use your imagination and pretend he has hooves under his boots.
>>84253109
It'd be a pain in the ass to do legally. He's owned by Image Comics. And their stock is rising because most of their comics aren't capeshit. Would love to see more adaptations of some of their stuff, but not all of it.

there is literally not a single suit in a movie flyer than this
>>84257424
god, Weller's mimery while in that suit is incredible. like, you wouldn't think it's hard to walk like a robot but the fact he acts so convincingly stilted and robotic without being clunky and unwieldy through so many layers of armor is actually impressive. why didn't he win an oscar for the dedication he put into this performance?
>>84251821
like it or not but there is no denying the amount of influence this costume and imagery had on recent pop culture as indicated by its ubiquitousness
fyi suicide squad holds an oscar for makeup&hairstyling, rightfully so
>>84256396
>>84256977
He recently announced that the script was done, so we'll see if anyone is willing to take a risk on a hard-r super "hero", given the success of Logan and Deadpool, maybe someone can spare a 75 mil budget or so
>>84252982
Think the cgi capes is more about convenience than anything.
>>84256835
It was ambitious for the time, that's for sure.
>>84257424
Hard to beat this really. Poor bastard suffered in that get up but the pay off was worth it. What a hell of a design.
>>84260186
Tatopoulos is a god amongst production designers
>>84264082
None of it would work if it weren't for his acting. The suit would hold up visually, but Welkers performance sold it as believable to an uncanny degree.
>>84262569
No cgi, so they had to have actual artists.

as someone who's been a long-term fan of Harley and who tends to hate slutty Harley designs, i wholly approve of this design because it's exactly how Harley would dress if you let her out on the streets
most slutty harley designs suck because they're over the top bondage/biker corset designs that she would never wear and never be able to do her acrobatic shit in, whereas this is just some flashy streets.
pic related, it's her original civilian garb from TAS

>>84264914
i know, right? such a perfectly cast role. he has the "hollywood hero" look and yet also has the mime experience AND expression range to back up such a difficult role. i cant imagine how hard it must have been to get such perfect results. as we saw with the new Robocop (more like ROBOPOOP) you just can't act normally or "like a robot" in that suit
>>84253664

>god, Weller's mimery while in that suit is incredible. like, you wouldn't think it's hard to walk like a robot but the fact he acts so convincingly stilted and robotic without being clunky and unwieldy through so many layers of armor is actually impressive.
He spent ten weeks working with a french ballet legend. The guy is a mime/fitness/acting/dance guru and they worked on a very fluid, more agile than human/unnatural movement. When he got into the suit the first time it was only a couple of days before shooting and they (him, the guru and the director) all agreed it wasn't working. The Guru took him aside and said "We have walked as a panther, but this isn't a panther. It is a bear. A great, old, king bear." And thats how he developed the moves. Fucking legend man.
>why didn't he win an oscar for the dedication he put into this performance?
Sadly, and for a variety of reasons, Hollywood is a very closed clique. There's only so many seats at the cool kids table during lunch and you can't let just anybody sit down. Especially some stupid scifi/action movie. Highschool shit man.
