It was a young guy who loved wrestling starting it, but he had no money. The money mark supplied the director and that's why they had to work together - the young guy wound up quitting taking most of the wrestlers with him after two years.

The wrestling was terrible in GLOW and played for comedy (which is what the young guy hated), as well as horrible skits with terrible jokes and puns. They had a wrestler who wound sprinkle voodoo dust on her opponents and they would go under her spell, and other shit like that.
