It's got the same problem at late season Hannibal, it leans so much into the atmospherics that it forgets to tell a compelling story. Also most of the mythological details they teased out would be already obvious to anyone who knows the premise of the show. Why is Shadow shocked that Wednesday is Odin? He's known for half the season that they're dealing with old and new gods, not to mention the part where Mr. World suggests dedicating a rocket called "Odin" to Wednesday. Maybe it's just because I've read the book, but hasn't the audience been way ahead of the characters on everything for the whole show? It's boring waiting for the writers to decide when the characters should stop being dumb.
