Tarantino is a great writer though.
If he wrote more screenplays and gave them to better directors, like Tony Scott, you would have better movies, like True Romance.

this scene aged like a fine wine
but milk doesn't age well op, it tends to have a short best before date.

Had a hard time making it through this movie, definitely seems like it was a cool flick in its day but goddamn was it bad.
It's just over the top kitsch.
conan the barbarian
planet of the apes
the birds (a lot of the old horror/thriller movies did not age well tbqh)

I haven't watch this recently but Natural Born Killers

You can triangulate Tarantino's career from the fact that this film is, with the exception of a few details from My Best Friend's Birthday and some movie references, plagiarized from Wild at Heart, a fairly well-known David Lynch movie which had been released only four years earlier, and was directed by Tony Scott, by then best known as an action specialist. Tarantino is the guy you watch when you're old enough no longer to be happy with action movies, and not old enough yet to get even a crasser Lynch movie.
Also, Scott improved massively on Tarantino's script, sharpening the jokes by removing the superfluous verbiage we get in the films he directed.

Make an argument, don't just post a poster.

You missed the point of The Birds if you think that it's dated.
>>84202511
Interesting, but again, tell us why.
>>84202625
Why, though?
This thread is only going to be interesting if people say why they think the movies have dated badly. Just stating titles is boring.

You start
blue velvet, deer hunter, true romance: none of the movies posted aged bad
true romance isn't directed by tarantino even so the dialogue is used appropriately instead of slapping you in the face. the film score is one of the most classic of its time. the cast is very very good. i'm not sure i'm not being trolled.

what's max payne doing there?
>>84202427
Does it have boob kino like Benny Hill?
> blue velvet, deer hunter, true romance
So we're just naming movies that were filmed a long time ago?
>>84203938
I'm a Lynchfag and dislike everything Quentin has done post Jackie Brown but Wild at Heart is Lynch's weakest film aside from Dune and True Romance is comfortably the superior film.

>True Romance
The relationship between Slater and Arquette feel pretty forced and is not strong enough to carry the whole movie. The relationship never felt like it was two people genuinely in love with one another but rather lust. The characters also felt very surface level with not much substance to them. Rapaports character was also super corny and reserved to simple comedy relief. The dialogue was also kinda corny as well prime example being the "You're so cool" line. Overall feels like a movie of its time
>Deer Hunter
While I did enjoy Deer Hunter I felt the pacing of the film was awful slow. The movie feels its length with extended scenes of dialogue with boring cinematography.
>Blue Velvet
This one I think decided to be weird for the sake of it at times. While the performances are pretty great outside MacLachlan and the love interest though that might be due to the intentionally strange dialogue. There is a dream quality to it but sometimes I felt the characters made frustratingly dumb decisions.

I agree with you about Wild at Heart, in fact I think the fact that Tarantino *could* rip it off indicates what's wrong with it and how below Lynch's standard it is, but as an auteurist I have to say I think it's still better than True Romance, because I rank Lynch above Tony Scott as an artist. But a bad film from a great director is more frustrating than great work from somebody two-bit or limited, for sure.

Agree about the relationship in True Romance.
Are your problems with The Deer Hunter and Blue Velvet really connected to their ages, though?
