Just watched this masterpiece.
Will we ever get another adaptation with this much quality?
Why are people still talking about this ten years later? It was a mediocre and critically panned.

Speed Racer was terribly underappreciated. One of the best movies of the year when it came out.

>It was a mediocre
It wasn't, though.

My favorite part was when the rich guy pays the assassin racers with unique items that match their character like furs or jewels, but then speed kills every single assassin racer in a funny and comedic way while also fingerbanging his gf xD
It's an adaptation that surpassed it's source material, just like 2001: A Space Odyssey and Blade Runner. Unfortunately, it was shot on 1080p so we will never have a true 4k transfer on to home media.
It got terrible reviews, so I didn't go see it. But a few years later, I saw it at our local thrift store for a dollar, so I bought it. I thought it would be stupid, but I was pleasantly surprised by how entertaining it is. I love when that happens. It's just a big, colorful, fun piece of eye and brain candy. You root for the hero and boo the villain, and walk away from it with a grin on your face. How could anybody not like a movie like that? Now I'm sorry I didn't go see it when it was on the big screen.
