oh you first need to understand that these are "favorite" films.
Not going to spend time writing some tl;dr's on why I liked them. Just some small notes.
Enemy's got GOAT setup and atmosphere and it's very interesting throughout.
Batman V Superman is for non-plebs, obviously.
What the fuck is your problem with Sin City? Dwight and Marv's stories were kino and it kinda felt like a Max Payne movie without Max Payne.
The Greasy Strangler is 2016's best film
Neon Demon is 2016's second best film
Resident Evil is guilty pleasure and the last one was actually better than the fifth. And it's much better than shit like Fast and Furious
If you have any problem with Texas, Army or Treasure.. just leave this board immediately or kill yourself.

No, Mad Max is absolutely dogshit. Its schlock action with no tension or stakes at all. Action scenes when you dont care about any character makes it become boring regardless of how energetic and effectful it is. The movie had the most uninspiring characters. There was no reason to care for either Max or Furiosa. To top it off, instead of just going all in on action, the director inserted cringeworthy "emotional" scenes. The scene where Theron had to walk away after finding out her home was gone was the worst Ive seen in a movie in a long time. Every scene with the "wives" that tried to build their characters was close behind. The acting was bad, the pacing was bad, the story was bad, the subplots where horrendous. Max himself was hardly a character. If you dont think that movie was complete shit then you have been watching it with the eyes and brain of a 13 year old boy.

I enjoyed the first guardians ofthe galaxy

harry potter films are pretty good too, you are probably judgeing them badly because of their fandom and popularity, If you can objectively cast your mind back to what it was like seeing them in the cinema when they were released you will realise harry potter films (or atleast most of them) are actually good

not every film has to be an artistic masterpiece, they are primarily entertainment

I never feel satisfied looking at these lists. They fall into several categories

1. Trying to broadly cover every major genre/style
2. Picking the latest popular films that have entertained
3. Picking obscure foreign / old films
4. Picking the prime example and only the prime example of it's genre
5. Rigidly sticking to a theme

Go over the films you've experienced in your life, not the last 5 years. Choose the ones that mean the most to you, that stand out as a viewing experience. Don't try to impress, don't choose what has most recently gratified you, don't try and make them all go along a certain line. Be genuine.

Only a few movies are rewatchable. Most movies are one time experience and watching them again just dilutes the experience until it's nothing. Movies aren't some Teletubbies spinoffs, and you're not a kid who has to watch things over and over again.

I don't think in terms of tropes. Talking tropes is the language of snarky jaded 20 somethings who think they know better than everyone else and have seen it all before.

The film didn't really impress me at first but the twist halfway through did a lot and I thought it handled it very well and left me thinking a lot about the nature of time and memories on the way back home.

I greatly suggest the intro Hotel Chevalier if you haven't watched it, it's a short film that takes place right before the film.

It does seem like other of Anderson's films are made for a broader audience, but The Darjeeling Limited touches me in a more personal level, mostly because I can relate to the type of relationship the brothers have.

As for other recommendations, My Sassy Girl (2001) / Tae Guk Gi The Brotherhood of War (2004) / Mother of Mine (2005). I'll give more recommendations if those were to your liking.

Would you kindly list the names of these movies? It's not spoonfeeding, I just would love to see those movies as they all have at least one movie i know in each.
Just type the letter below yours and list if that won't be a major inconvenience.

Also suggest watching animated films, most of Ghiblis are great, then there is Grave of the Fireflies, Girl Who Leapt Through Time, if you can find the combined Ginga Nagareboshi Gin you'll be in for a treat.
>>
>>84209249
Satoshi Kon's work is also worth watching, as is Yuasa's, Jin Roh, Ninja Scroll and Metropolis are neat movies, too.

I really didn't like the Vengeance trilogy. I thought I Saw the Devil was much better.

I liked Seven Samurai, but not Rashomon. Let the Right One In was okay. Stalker was fine, didn't like Solaris. Haven't seen the rest.

>>84209249
>>84209337
I've watched quite a lot of anime and don't like most of it. Exceptions: Ninja Scroll is in my top 40 (hell, watched it again less than a month ago) and I like Elfen Lied.

I'm surprised nobody brought up Jagten. Is that not a popular movie on /tv/? PS - I'm normally a /k/ & /tg/ guy... only been dropping by here for a few weeks now.

If you enjoy mainly those types of movies, then I'd recommend The Man From Nowhere (2010) / [REC] (2007) / Die Welle (2008) / Run Lola Run (1998) / Y Tu Mamá También (2001) / This might be a controversial recommendation but Riaru onigokko (2015), I enjoyed it immensely, but might not be your cup of tea.
