I think this show is great but if they intended to take it up to the beginning of BB I don't think they can do it at the current pace in 5 seasons and it seems weird this should run longer than BB.

Actually it makes sense that it would run a lot longer than breaking bad. It's a spin off like no other that does plan to eclipse it's source material. Breaking Bad was a small story that took place basically entirely within the time frame of one year, and Walter wasn't really a criminal, he just came crashing into this world of criminals that seems to have taken a long time to develop. Better Call Saul is the story of that world, the story of the real criminals. In the end, Breaking Bad will be the peripheral story and BCS will be the main story, I think it's pretty genius. Also why would they make a show shorter than the show they're now expected to one up? The idea here is they are bringing us a similar experience as to the one we had watching breaking bad, but now bigger than ever, otherwise it wouldn't be a very worthy successor.
