Here's the thing. I thought the twist was so obvious and dumb, that I actually thought when "Walter" walked out, "nah, no way they're gonna do that cliche."
Here's what I thought was going to happen:
Walter killed David, but he starts questioning the whole "Serve in Heaven vs Regine in Hell" thing, so debates whether or not to kill them and continue David's work (This would explain why Walter/David didn't just sick the xeno on them). But in the end, Walter decides "Fuck you, David. Daniels is hot." And helps kill the alien. The end of the movie has Walter And Daniels looking at their finished log cabin by the lake. Daniels moves closer to Walter, implying a mutual attraction.

I don't care about whether or not they're technically good or bad. Ridley only likes them being bad. Ash in Alien was just a knockoff of HAL in 2001. It's Ridley's belief that AI is and will be the real monster that destroys humanity. Whether they're like HAL, who was an instance of conflicting programming, or David, who I believe was intentionally programmed antagonistically as Wayland's acting agent in Prometheus.

Like look at the overarching meaning in the 2 movies. The Engineers play God. They create man. Man plays God. Creates David. David kills God.

The entire overarching Alien prequel trilogy is about man using science to play God kills God and ruins man. He's deeply distrusts science (hence why the biologist and geologist are pothead retards in Prometheus) and is certain that AI will destroy humanity and science has destroyed God irl.

Compare that to what a James Cameron Aliens prequel trilogy would be. Cameron loves AI. He loves technology. He is a scientist. Gladiator 2 should still be made, that script by Nick Cave is genuine kino material. I think he wanted to call it "Christ Killer", or at least have that as the subtitle.

The only redeemable aspect of Prometheus was that it killed any chance of Del Toro's At The Mountains of Madness film from getting made. I know a lot of people here really wanted that movie to get made and I did too, but then I read the script.

It was bad. Really really bad. Like if Lindelof co-wrote Prometheus with Kurtzman & Orci, that's the quality of the script that leaked.

Didn't David continue sending correspondence to earth on the Covenant? So he would have a headstart of the remaining 7 years (until they expected them to reach the planet) and then the 10+ years it would take any else to travel from earth to the engineers homeworld which David is going to next.
But would they really send a crew to find out what happened? Seems like a waste of resources and time. If there is another seeding ship sent out they would not send it to the same planet either.

At that point the space fairing engineers might have already confronted David and other humans would be seeing the aftermath at that point.

I have a copy of the script (it's legit, found it on a screenwriting site) and I'm shocked that there aren't certain spoilers circulating if the script is already leaked. There's one thing in it that if they manage to keep it a secret until the release I would be fucking shocked. I suspect that, had he made his film, del Toro would have become to Lovecraft what Peter Jackson is to Tolkien. That is, he would have made a decent, workmanlike adaptation which hit all the major, obvious beats. He would have been praised for creating something that isn't utterly terrible. There's not much. The novelization of Covenant states specifically that the planet they're on is indeed the Engineer home world "Paradise." That plus the primitive visuals of the Engineer civilization can infer they devolved.
