Rather, I meant to say that 'depicting' does not necessarily mean representing. Not that there isn't some "there there" but I'd be careful about not getting too narrow and sane in one's interpretation. I take something in more the way, say, a tree presents itself to me. It bespeaks itself in some way. Has some signature, a character, even 'stories', but it's some kind of impossible, holy, psychedelic communication or emanation.
Any critic that treats it as anything less than this is a fake.
