Wright had already directed a music video with the same concept years ago, I believe it's a project he had in mind before drive came out but I'm sure he will throw in some references. He's a pop culture comedy and parody filmmaker, the film will be light-hearted and its silly to complain about similarities.

Drive was based on a book that was a shameless rip off of Walter Hills the driver. Refn blatantly copied scenes. But drive is still very different tonally. Hill in turn ripped off Melville and Leone constantly.
