You can abuse alcohol too!!!

You don't go around closing ALCOHOL FACTORIES & STORES
>>
>>84163435
Hey, remember when we made alcohol ill-legal and everyone eventually realized that was a stupid fucking idea that didn't work at all?

By creating more crime and causing more problems. Sure, let's pretend it worked.
>>
>>84163610
No it really didn't, people still sold and bought it illegally
>>

It worked in the sense that it made organized crime skyrocket. Everyone still drank, regardless. It was fucking stupid. My late great grandmother was a bootlegger down in Oklahoma.

I want to keep weed illegal but only because I plan on growing and selling my own and I can't do that if I need a licence and have to pay taxes ect. As soon as it becomes legal over here big business will dominate the industry and there will be no way for people like me, working class little guys, to get ahead.

Consumption went down, but organized crime went up. Plus, why not include the cost/benefit analysis of what citizens had to pay the government to enforce prohibition? For alcohol, it wasn't worth it. You will never stop people from making it. And you will never stop people from selling it.

what did he mean by this?

No, but you can certainly dissuade a great deal of them from taking their dumb drunk asses to the streets and into their cars to murder decent people.

We'll never see a movement like that with anything ever again though, not with the kind of money that's required to be thrown around these days to possibly topple any chemical-titan.

>>84163950
As the article said, violent crime didn't go up by any large margin. It was also legal to make for personal use.

Bruce Lee died of a marijuana overdose
>>
People who advocate legalizing recreational marijuana always act like marijuana prohibition is some kind of recent thing, like they're trying to stop it from being outlawed rather than trying to get it legalized.

I see plenty of good arguments for why it shouldn't have been outlawed in the first place. Can anyone give a good reason why it should be legalized now?

Does recreational marijuana use provide enough value to our society to justify legalizing it?

I live in Bell Canyon California, which is an unincorporated community of Ventura County. My name is Joe Rogan. I'm 49 years old. I believe in taking care of myself and a balanced diet of freshly killed game, eggs from my backyard, and jalapenos. I perform a rigorous kettlebell and battlerope routine daily. In the morning if my pupils are not dilated I'll vape on some essential CBD oils while doing Turkish getups in my homemade octagon with my kettlebells shaped like monkey heads. I can do 1000 now. After I remove the CBD oils I eat a pot gummy. In the isolation tank I smoke some DMT, then slam my Alpha Brain before chugging a pot of Caveman coffee. Then I put on my Me Undies while I prepare food from Blue Apron. I always use a non-vegan meal as eating vegan doesn't provide you necessary proteins. Then I make sure to do my spinal decompression with some yoga. There is an idea of a Joe Rogan; some kind of abstraction. But there is no real me: only an entity, something illusory. And though I can hide my cold gaze, and you can shake my hand and feel flesh gripping yours and maybe you can even sense our lifestyles are probably comparable... I simply am so fucking high, bro.
>>
>>84164619
Beyond profit, and let's face it profit is the only thing the people who could legalize it would care for, it has extremely light side effects, less than most pharmaceuticals and none that have proven fatal thus far. It also has medical uses that could be further expanded on without obtrusive laws.
>>
>>84164446
I think the problem wasn't that alcohol was bad, it was that immigrants are always trash the first few generations

immigrants including filthy europeans ones always bring crime its just how it is. it was an idealistic return to traditional values that couldn't work with that flood of immigrants that was coming in

Joe Rogan is generally a really dumb man, but I think he has a point here. Although I think his point would have been made better if he pointed to alcohol, which in many ways is more damaging/dangerous than marijuana but which we all accept because it's fine in moderation.

I also think, maybe unintentionally, he is making a very good point about unhealthy good. McDonalds/BK/Wendys/Chipotle meals should be taxed more than they are, because they are contributing to the greatest health epidemic in America. If you order a large at McDonald's, it should be just $1 more. It should be $5 more.

Fat fucks are the biggest strain on the American public health system (Medicare and Medicaid, the elderly and the poor are more likely to be fat than any other group). Let's tax the shit out of them. I'm tired of seeing my hard-earned money going to help a 400lb woman pay for her diabetes treatments.

>If you order a large at McDonald's, it should be just $1 more. It should be $5 more.
So what's stopping fatty from just ordering 2 mediums?

Don't get me wrong, I think a fat tax is a good idea, the problem is that there's no way to implement it without putting cameras in every home. What differentiates from a mother buying in bulk every two weeks, and fatty's daily shop?

If you did something wild like measured body fat percentage at the checkout, tubby would just get his skinny relative to buy him food. I suppose the inconvenience would stop some people, but you're talking about a large cost to set up equipment in every store, and you might even need people to get barefoot.
