Mild spoilers

Saw this last night for free (IMAX 3D for those who care) and holy shit, it was bad. It made The Mummy look like kino. It was incredibly long and yet the plot felt paper thin despite the story being convoluted as fuck. We're introduced to so many characters who don't affect the story at all (specifically the Mexican teenager who got way too many screentime with her annoying af lines). Things that were really built up to were quickly resolved without any satisfying payoff. Optimus spend 15 minutes turning evil only to turn good after a "Martha" moment or Walberg's destiny is revealed to be a quick "meh moment.

I've only seen the original transformers and the second one and holy fuck, did I hate myself for not walking out of this. And btw, this movie spends some time talking about racism and tried to winning some brownie points by forcing some diversity so there's that.

Grimlock is barely in it. He's got his junkyard dog scene at the start which is pretty funny. Then a short fight with him and Slag against the new human faction, TRF. They kill a lot of them.

Not I'm interested in seeing the movie, but did they do a better job with the effects this time? Age of Extinction got really shitty looking towards the end.

Okay.

Transformers have been around for fucking centuries and they fought fucking Inferioncons or some bollocks. Merlin united them together to defeat the bad guys. Secret order knew about it and kept it hidden. Meanwhile Optimus gets mind-controlled by his sister who he thinks is Bot-God but is just more like Nature, powerful but not 'god'. He's sent back to Earth to destroy it because why the fuck not. Meanwhile the humans realise that Optimus is going to go for some McGuffin which will end everything, so they decide to go get it and Megatron decides to help because why not (he then plans to betray them). Stuff happens and it turns out the protag is the last blood descendant of Merlin and he can control the McGuffin and prevent the Infernicons returning or some shit. Bumblebee gets his voice box fixed and his voice breaks Optimus out of his mind control. Protag awakens the three Knight Transformers with McGuffin and they combine to form the three headed dragon transformer who battle Megatron and Infernicons. Megatron legs it. Typical ending. Then dun dun dun, turns out that using the McGuffin woke up the Transformers version of Satan/Devil/Whatever who is actually the planet Earth. So Transformers 6 is set up. Only one Bot actually dies. Only cameoes and easter eggs for previous cast and fan favourite bots.

Something like that.

Hopkins is the last surviving member of the Witwiccan Order, the secret organisation which knew and guarded the secret of Transformers existing for thousands of years. Also, cool shit, one of the Transformers is called Bulldog, who transforms into a Mark IV 1917 British tank. It's pretty cool.

It's another 'Hollywood film shot in England because England has dirt cheap world class facilities and major tax breaks for using them'. It's cool. But it's a mishmash of Knights of the Round Table/Arthurian Legend and MECH BATTLES.

I forgot to mention, humans are now all anti-Transformer due to Battle of Chicago and they're hunting them down and shit and so on. Also, Optimus is mind-controlled to destroy Earth not out of 'evil' but out of 'the greater good', since Earth is literally Bot-Satan, if Optimus destroys Earth, he destroys Bot-Satan and saves that universe and possibly the multiverse. He's MC'd because he refuses to do it out of logic and he's buttmad she's disassembled Cybertron and refuses to reassemble it unless he does it. The way this is suppose to happen si he gets the McGuffin and uses it to crash Cybertron into Earth, destroying Earth. He breaks free before this, but Megatron steals it and works with Quntessia to essentially blow up the Earth. This is all stopped as I said and it ends with the reveal mid-credit that Earth is a Bot and Quintessa offers humans a chance to destroy it or some shit

These movies are all the same. Horrible and basic plot with plot holes out the ass and the writers and directors literally forgetting characters from earlier in the movie or past movies. Always something about Transformers being on earth in the past that links them to what is happening presently and introducing a shit load of new autobots and decipticons with no proper back story. Atleast 1 annoying as fuck character that will be replaced by another annoying as fuck character in the sequel. LOOOOOOOONG AS ALL HELL

Saw it last night. It's horrible, overly long, constantly loud and has one of the worst characters in the entire franchise.

There were actually some walk outs in the theater, and I was at the Chinese Theater in Los Angeles which charges $22.50 a ticket.

Plus it blatantly sets things up for a sequel.

All the transformers are hunted down, I mean they're literally firing on Autobots in the first 30 mins, yet the BAD BOTS are all captured and locked up already and Megatron goes 'you want my help to get the McGuffin so you can get ALIEN TECHNOLOGY? You gotta let them go!' and essentially forms a team with some of them to help humans get the McGuffin. Megatrons motivation is 'if I do this, it'll free the rest of the Deceptacons' which is a bit fucking stupid as the planet will be blown up with his actions. I mean sure, he'll survive, but what's the point if Earth is gone?

Are the bot vs bot fight scenes decent at least? The few minutes each movie spends on showing Optimus Prime having a slow mo trailer moment are the only reason I ever bother to watch these movies.
