There are many great games that would make great movies. Problem is - the execution is usually poor because the publishers usually want to appeal to a wider audience and not just the fanbase of the game itself.

Unfortunately this is going to be the shitty mess that the first two movies were.

Sucks too. I'm a huge SH fan and had such high hopes when they were announced.

The stories were already there, they just had to adapt them to the screen.

Team Silent should have done those movies.

Planescape could be turned into a TV-series, as it has too much material for a movie.

Most games however are remembered because of gameplay, not story. That's why something like Doom will always suck, as it really has no story and gameplay doesn't turn well into an interesting movie. This leads into Doom fans crying about that the story in the movie is different, when they actually mean that the movie didn't match gameplay experience.

First Pirates movie is as close as you can get to a Monkey Island movie.

But if you'd actually take the story of the first game as it is, it wouldn't turn into much of a flick, unless you do a ton of re-writing to it.
