I know Star Wars has always been popular but doesn't it seem like it's been taken over by normies over the past 10 years or so?
well nerd culture in general became "cool" over the past 10 years so i wouldn't be surprised

If you watched any movies in the year 1977, you watched Star Wars. It didn't become the highest earning movie of all time because the normies stayed home.
Star Wars was hugely successful and oooular with normies when it came out though, girls would go just to see Harrison Ford. It hasn't been taken over by normies, it's been taken over by jews and trendy "nerds"
>OMG I LUUUUUUV STAR WARS I OWN ALL THE MERCHANDISE
>eh? Max Rebo? Who's that?
>Who cares what happened after VI, that's the happy ending.
>OMG A NEW STAR WARS MOVIE SET AFTER VI IM SO HYPED ITS STAR WARS BABY

Of course that normies intercept everything that appears on mainstream culture's radar. In the beginning of the nineties, the trilogy was considered obsolete here in Poland. But, as early capitalism advanced, a commercial radio station from Cracow, RMF FM, took an opportunity to create a summer holidays seasonal show, called "Invasion of the Force," very loosely connected with the movies, but extremely using John Williams music scores from these films. And so SW became mainstream. Then Hollywood took the opportunity to wipe off the dust by creating Remastered Versions in late 90s and finally resurrect the dead by making prequels in the 00s.
