Seriously what were they even thinking with this film? It's a 'remake' with zero charm like the Frasier movies had. The modern setting for a mummy movie was a terrible decision and besides based cruise being in it, i think he was miscast.

What a stupid idea. It's literally the answer to a question no on asked. Did anyone really WANT a franchise based on the interconnectedness of Universal's classic monsters? Did anyone actually want some huge crossover with Dracula, Frankenstein, the Wolfman, and the Creature from the Black Lagoon? Why did Universal ever think this was going to work?

The most embarassing aspect is that Dr. Jekyll is a supporting character in The Mummy, and his entire role is to set up the expanded universe. They took the worst part of Iron Man 2 and stuck it into their first film.

I don't think so. The studio doesn't get that much revenue from international box office. And still, if you put a bunch of money and use a lot of time to make a money, only to get the money back, that's a loss.

>>84136034

Well that's what you get when you come up with an original idea for a movie. People don't want it. They want sequels, reboots, something they're familiar with. The Mummy was just too 'nouveau' if you pardon my French.

Not that guy, or American, but it's a fact.

imagine spending most of Pulp Fiction in a less interestingly written language. you don't get to appreciate the dialogue. imagine reading most of annie hall-Most of Woody Allens mannerisms and facial expressions go past you, because you're preoccupied reading what the shit he's saying.

now couple that with asians, who as with anything else in culture, prefer extravagance and overacting (kpop, bruce lee, japanese TV)

arts like acting, cinematography and script are all lost on the mulititude of non-fluent english speakers (especially asians, because their culture is so different).

foreigners spend 50% of the movie reading subtitles (which means it's not the exact original script), but it also comprimises acting performance.

They're the smartest production studio in Hollywood. Instead of blowing all of their money on 3-5 massive blockbusters they make a a dozen low budget films and as long as a couple become hits they turn a profit. Get Out cost less than $5 million and it made over $250 million at the box office so that one movie guaranteed that at the end of the year Blumhouse will be in the black. I'm shocked Hollywood hasn't caught on to this business model, it makes a lot more sense than gambling everything on a small handful of overpriced blockbusters.

Why do you fags keep bringing up money spent on advertisment?
I literally didn't see any adverts for it anywhere.
Hell, I didn't even know the movie was playing in theaters until I went to my cinema and asked what they were playing that day.
>Anons are actually using muh advertisement as a reason why they think it's a flop
>>
>>84145523
Just because you don't watch anything that isn't on a computer screen or go outside doesn't mean they didn't advertise it. I've seen plenty of TV ads and posters at theaters. Also advertising =/= doing huge spectacles i.e the advertising done for Godzilla '98.

I watch a lot of TV and do go outside.
Point remains that I never saw any advertisement for it, and I'm willing to bet not a lot of other people did either.

Why does it feel good? Do you want only capeshit movies to succeed?

>Oh, you mean the advertising that I've seen literally none of? Oh boy they sure must have went all out on their marketing budget. I really enjoyed all those adverts that I never saw anywhere.
Yes, because you didn't see any advertisements that means no one else did. I thought I saw advertisements for this shit everywhere but that must've been my mind playing tricks on me, clearly your personal experiences reflect the world.

None of these are in post-production. Post-production means it has already been filmed.

Well, they sure are giving it their best shot, what with Godzilla adding Mothra, Rodan and King Ghidorah.

That's exactly my point, you retard. Anecdotal evidence is worthless. You're the one who made unsubstantiated claims about the marketing so the burden of proof is on you.

Or at least where the villain isn't so bad, and their offer is pretty good.

The only reason we're even discussing this movie AT ALL is because the mummy is cute. Imagine it being another guy again, even a bigger flop.

Technically this film profited about $45 Million dollars not sure what statistics they are using.

Budget was 125 Million. Cost of publicity about 125 million...total 250 million. Current at 296 million gross. Meh. Not successful but they didn't lose money. No more dark universe for a while.
>>
>>84136000
Is this a record? Two failed attempts at a cinematic universe in two movies?
