Sometimes there comes along movies where I don't know how to feel about them, cause the characters do not go through much change, not even a little much. And they are exactly the same at the end of the story as they were in the beginning.
Two movies that come to mind as examples are The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly (1966) and Alien (1979). In Alien even though the characters get the crap scared out of them, they don't really go through any character changes much. They are still the same in the end. No one turns from good to bad, or vice versa, and no ones themes, values, or morality is changed.
Same with The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly I feel, where all three main characters go on a quest but it doesn't change any of them one bit in the end. So I wonder if that makes these kinds of movies not very good, or not very compelling... What do you think?
It's just a meme. The Thing had zero character development. Dredd had none either.
