am i insane? I unironically think this film gets better with every rewatch.

this has only happened with Kubrick films.

Dare i say this is a future masterpiece ala Blade Runner?

Am I the only one who's seen it more then 30 times? I'm not joking. This isn't me trying to be funny. I've seen it more then 30 times. I've watched it on almost a daily basis. Do I have autism?
>>
>>84118463
I agree. It's a fascinating film, lots of visual symbolism in service of its themes. For example, when Bruce is wandering through the smokr in the opening he walks past a horse and a guy dressed like papa Kent, thematically tying the destruction of the Wayne building to Clarke's feelings of guilt illustrated by his father's story about accidentally drowning the horses.
>>
>>84118463
The depressing thing about BvS isn't that it's a misunderstood masterpiece, but that most movies of today are so thoroughly divorced from even the idea of artistic sensibility that a comic book movie that tries to insert genuine moral conundrums and considerations looks like a fucking Kubrick film in comparison.

Decades ago, BvS really would have been a bad movie. Nowadays there isn't much to compare it to from Hollywood though, you have to look for arthouse directors or foreign directors for anything even resembling substance.

I think part of the reason I both loved and hated BvS was that it was a movie that reminded me of movies I've loved, but at the same time it reminded me of how far our standards have fallen for mainstream films, including my own, all in the name of the global marketplace.

After rewatching, it became a 6.5/10 from a 6/10, but the extended version made it 7/10. It could have been a great movie with some slight changes, but it's still good and the warehouse fight is worth the price of admission IMO.

there is some great use of themes throughout. Especially Luthors ideology revolving around angels and demons. He does a satanic blood sacrifice to summon doomsday and even calls upon stephenwolfe with the motherbox and he resembles a demon. This idea stems from demons being nothing more than aliens which has been large in western occult for some time. And most recently used in Twin Peaks mythology.

Not him, the reason I continue to like it is because it's the only "Will Farrell and friends improv for 90 minutes" movie that actually is better for it because it's about two absurdly inept manchildren doing dumb stuff. It only makes sense to pace it as them bumbling into schemes and adventures with little plot to connect them. I think it's also got an earnestly childlike spirit, no cynicism.
>>
>>84118463
I enjoyed my second viewing because it was the ultimate extended edition, but the film feels shallow or indistinct due to the disjointed plot that doesn't hone in. Don't get me wrong, that shallow feeling is deep compared to Marvel trash. I just don't think the plot of BvS is iconic in any regard, mostly because they flake on the versus component and there isn't a clear resolution to their conflict that the film spent so long building up. Doomsday was a superfluous addition that only killed the momentum of the movie by ruining the whole point of it.
>>
>>84123882

Lois doesn't need to know that the spear is made of Kryptonite, or that Kyptonite has such a destabilizing effect on Kryptonians, or even that Doomsday is Kryptonian in origin.

From her perspective, she has seen Batman wield a weapon destructive enough to almost kill Superman: the most powerful being humanity has, thus far, ever encountered. All she knows is that it is a weapon of great power, and that's all that's relevant to her.
>>
>>84126334

the only workable motivation for lois to get the spear is her thinking superman has, for whatever reason, gone berserk.

The problem is the movie completely fails to make any legitimate case for superman being a remote threat to anyone.

So that means all that remains is lois is telepathic.
>>
>>84126442
In the presence of lois? I dont think thats enough to disregard a weapon that was (in her eyes) about to punch a hole into superman
>>
>>84126554
That doesnt make any sense. She doesn't know the effects of kryptonite or its effects on superman or the spears purpose
>>
>>84126582
It does, on the other hand, make a strong case for the idea it is only effective or threatening against superman.
>>
>>84126627
the assumption shills are working from is she sees it cut his cheek and weaken him.

Or she knows this because shes psychic.
>>
>>84126628
So she sees superman about to get impaled by the spear and the most logical conclusion would be "its only effective against superman" seems farfetched to me
>>
>>84126681
The fact it does nothing to her and she has no problems carrying it or attempting to dispose of it is what would make a strong case that the weapon is only effective against superman.
>>
>>84126654

>>
>>84126442

this is a really pathetic nit pick. No offense. maybe try something better?? The movie has other problems besides this one which is pretty obvious to someone who watched the movie.
>>
>>84127036
there are better movies to shill faggot bvs is just a shitshow. period.
>>
I watched it 3 or 4 times and each time it gets worse. The plot on the first hour of the movie is so stupid. Lex Luthor is the definition of cringe. Batman's plan to kill Superman is idiotic. Lex Luthor getting access to the ship was totally unrealistic and completely ridiculous how he made the Doomsday. Despite all interesting symbolism the movie has it is really a stupid plot that tries really hard to resemble intelligence and ends up being just not good. It's sad but every time I watch I think lower of Snyder.
>>
>>84127036
>oh shit I can't argue away something

>better call it a nitpick and make it seem petty!!

lois going to retrieve the spear from where she tried to dump it is the only reason any other character knew where to find it. Her entire contribution to that sequence, from martha onward, hell, for the entire movie, apart from being a cocksock for superman, could've just been cut without affecting the movie at all. But shes in it, and we have to explain how she knows to do things without any apparent source of knowledge.

>>84127145
I dont see what the problem is
she was in the area
the film shows her witness the explosion of superman throwing doomsday into fueltanks
she didnt know what was going on at this point, she just saw her boyfriend, who was remorsefull over needing to kill zod, toss something human shaped but 4 times the size into a massive fireball.
"why would he do that", she asks herself, half turning from the carnage, "something must be wrong", a deafening, unearthly roar comes from the fireball and she starts running towards the only weapon she has ever seen injure a god.

and this is assuming she didnt see or hear any of the other crazy shit that happened from the time the batwing crashed, or see the explosion onto of lexcorp, or the nuke
>>
>>84127884
dude, she was too far away to see anything but the fireballs, from the movie's own establishing shots. She was never within miles of doomsday.

also where the fuck did you get the rest of that headcanon
>>
>>84127924
from my head, thats just me trying to show that you dont need to assume psychic power to explain her motivations

I started arguing with you because you made the leap of logic that lois must be psychic

I disagreed with you, and presented my argument. you still havent addressed my points, you just keep saying headcannon, you havent even said which parts are headcannon. that last pic is lois seeing the fire after the explosion and the scene i took it from shows her reacting to doomsday screaming.

the sum of my points are this
>She witnessed a battle between kryptonians before
>She was close enough to infer that something similiar was happening here (evidenced by previous pic, otherworldly screaming, nukes in the upper atmosphere, explosions high above metropolis)
>She witnessed the spear having injured her impervious boyfriend
>She put two and two together and thought this magic spear might be helpfull (lois may have been useless in previous versions of superman, but aside from not recognising clark with his glasses on, she has never been stupid)

so with these 4 points I present to you why she need not be psychic to go get the spear. Now its your turn, you can either A) present your points like a grown ass person and we can have a discussion, B) continue to spout memes like a third world child or C) try to squirm away from your previous assertion and change the topic

its upto you, but i wont reply unless its A

your points are based in headcanon

there, I have addressed your points, again, as much as they warrant.

True story
I've been trying to watch Batman vs. Superman ever since it's been spammed here on this board

I'm on day 5 now, I can't seem to marathon it.
Last place I left off was when Batman beats up Superman and Louis Lane comes to the rescue

I think today will be the last installment
