Why do plebs enjoy twists?
It negates everything you've watched until that point so you don't have to pay attention to most of the film
It makes them feel smart because it's so fucking deep man
What is worse, to be a pleb or to be Reddit?
the question was:
why plotmakers do need twists?

The first time you got hit with a twist felt really good. So when you watch a movie you want to feel that way again. It's like chasing your first high. Imagine being a kid and finding out the bad guy from star wars was actually the father of the hero. Or you're watching the usual suspects and you realize with the detective that everything was a lie. Or you find out he was dead the whole time.
It feels good to be tricked. But plebeians don't realize it's a device that takes a lot of work and dedication to accomplish properly. They don't realize a well built character drama is more edifying that finding out the main character is actually a lizard person.
