Adam West's death really brought home to me how many people think the 1966 show and movie was the first screen Batman adaptation. This thread is for discussion of Lambert Hillyer's classic The Batman, which introduced the Batcave and led to the redesign of Alfred Pennyworth; and Spencer Gordon Bennet's underrated Batman and Robin, which introduced Vicki Vale. Both of these are important to the development of the Batman mythos, as well as being compelling entertainment in their own right. Let's celebrate the serials that started it all for Batman on the big screen.

I think I have a VHS of this lying around somewhere.

Loads of people saying "the original and best" or statements along those lines.
I didn't even know it existed op. Quick rundown? Is it campy like the 60s one or serious? Worth watching?
>1943
>Batman vs the Evil Japs
oh this should be good
Batman looks rather plump

That Batmask is legit spooky. If you saw that on a dark night you'd think the devil was coming to get you.

I see why they call him the Boy Wonder.

I have the dvd of it
JESUS CHRIST! HE BRANDED THEM!

They're both serious, though with some unintentional camp. The camp humor of the 60s show was inspired partly by how a reissue of the '43 serial played with 60s audiences.

They should bring back Bat-branding, desu.
Haven't seen that one actually

Which, the 1943 or the 1949?

Not that anon, but I saw people saying that on Twitter.

Didn't read OP's thread but that Batman sorta looks like Trump.
>>84097283
Not really, but what would a /tv/ thread be without a Donald Trump reference?
>>84094469
Zack did.

Not the same thing though.
