Look, Batman was a killer for barely 6 months into his creation before Bob Kane finally ironed out what he wanted the character to represent in the comics, even though Batman was a vigilante he wanted him to adhere to a strict moral code, something that the readers could take a lesson from.

That said, Batman has had numerous interpretations in every media by different writers and directors and Burton's hearkens back to the earliest days.

And people complain about the killing in BvS, but it's clear that Batman in that movie has suffered so much loss and become so jaded that he has done away with that rule.

My only problem with that is JOKER IS STILL ALIVE AND RUNNING FUCKING GOTHAM'S UNDERWORLD, it's like perfect scenario to set up Red Hood who would be 100% right in chastising Bruce, not for his death, but to have built up a huge ass kill sheet but that fucker is still alive?
