that's part of it's charm.
for a major studio film made in 1970, the characters are very irreverent and unlikable at moments. the film is both bleak and funny, and the rough image quality with the strange editing (french new-wave esque, especially with the lack of credits) add to it's character.
maybe i'm looking too deep into it and i'm a pleb. never really cared for the long goodbye, maybe i'll give it a rewatch.

I don't know. Hawkeye and Trapper are just so awful I don't like watching them. I feel actually bad for Robert Duvall and Hot Lips. This movie would obviously not be made today with the way they treat her in particular. I don't think I'm an SJW or anything, but I don't know. That part where they pull up the flap of the tent while she's taking a shower. I just can't laugh at it.
